Hi jpg1,

Please excuse me for the delay.

I am solving the problem by rebooting TT 740.

I push and hold the on-off for a few seconds (usually less than 1 minute) and the TT 740 reboots nicely pairing back IOPLAY perfectly.

Best regards,

Felipe

Hi Felipe,

I don't have the same problem with my new Go 740 Live, so unfortunately I don't think I can help you. I have had the TomTom fail to connect to the iOPlay unit just once. And re-pairing the two devices afterwards solved the problem. I (perhaps naively) don't expect it to happen again.

Greetings from Brazil,

I have changed my gas Ford Ranger for a new diesel Ford Ranger.

Before changing it I have uninstalled the IOPLAY in order to reinstall it in the new diesel Ranger.

Will IOPLAY keep the setup? IOPLAY will be off for several days.

Best regards,

Felipe

I am not too sure whether it will keep any pairing settings, if you are in any doubt following re-connection press both the red and green buttons until the device beeps as this will clear it ready to pair up your units to it - Mike

I think this is the device I will need for my new car and phone, I have read all the posts but am a little confused now - must be the post Christmas excess Very Happy

In Jan I will be taking delivery of a new VW Polo and also an iPhone3GS - 16GB. I also have a TT720 unit.

Now the new car doesn't have BT support in-built - VW wanted a small fortune for that option and swapping my current single height BT car radio into the dual height slot isn't appealing as the supplied radio interconnects with the parking sensors and a few other things. (Technology doesn't always help does it?)

So with the IO Play will I be able to ..

1/ Connect the TT720 for navigation commands
2/ Connect the iPhone for calls
3/ Connect the iPhone for music play

Any help gratefully received.

All the best for the New Year

Phil, the iO-Play will work fine with the 720 and it will work in conjunction with a phone via Bluetooth at the same time, however the iPhone tends to hijack both the HFP and A2DP channels making it difficult to get the TomTom and the iPhone working together via the device.

It is possible to do but its a question of timing and which device is switched on first, if you want music from the iPhone then you cannot use the 720 as this will tie up the A2DP channel, nothing stopping you using the A2DP channel from the TomTom though to stream music that way and you get the added benefit of being able to not pause the music during navigation instructions and camera warnings.

I tend to use the unit for music and navigation instructions from the TomTom and let it handle the hands free calls from the iPhone as its more reliable than using the TomTom for phone control. That said I also use just the iPhone on its own with one of the nav applications runnings and the iPhone streaming music to the iO-Play.
Once fitted you can "mix-n-match" what connection suits depending upon what hardware you want to use on the day, the iO-Play device can remember upto 5 different devices but can only pair to two units at the same time and they can only use one of the two channels each (A2DP or HFP) - Mike

Mike,

Thanks for the info - it looks as if I will need to think through my options here.

This is a combination of question & observation....

I've installed the IOPlay with the intention of TomTom 740 playing navigational instructions and my phone (iPhone) connecting via handsfree.

To behonest it's been very hit and miss, but I have managed to get both devices connected as above without having to pair the TomTom each time.

I think the iPhone is causing problems and a key is to the way the units are switched on, TomTom 1st, iPhone 2nd.

The problem is caused by the iPhone connecting to both the headset & handsfree profile which then means the TomTom is unable to connect. If TomTom connects 1st it only connects to the headset profile and then the iphone only has the handsfree profile to connect to, both units then work well.

So my question is this, is there any way on the iPhone to disable the BT headset profile or configuring it to only use handsfree. On the HTC HD2 it shows the profiles the unit has connected to and then allows you to select which ones it should use.

Very Happy Solution found...

I've finally found a solution. But it requires to jailbreak the iphone. You can do that by downloading blackra1n. Once jailbreaked, install Cydia through Blackra1n. In Cydia, there is an app called Bluetooth profile selector. In that app, you can turn A2DP off for your headset/car bluetooth. Then it connects to it, but only as a headset and the music will still go through the iPod Connector!"

Greetings from Brazil Speedcam,

Thank you very much for your attention and patience.

I was facing the same problem with a 3GS, Model MCXXXXXX, Version 3.1.3, Modem Firmware 05.1201. Unfortunately, there is not a secure jailbreak for it right now and I will have to wait for.

In this meantime, I am connecting only my TT 740 via the IOPLAY.

Connecting the Iphone 3GS via the original "FORD MY CONNECTION" Bluetooth of my car the others I call complain the volume of the mic is too low. The mic of this system is no external is located in the front panel of the CD player. Maybe if I install an external mic on this CFD player, the mic volume would improve.

Regards,

Felipe

Speedcam,

I have finally did the jailbreak via Spirit on my Iphone 3GS.

I have also installed BTPS via Cydia.

I want to hear music from my Iphone Bluetooth to the Bluetooth Audio in my car CD Player, but call/answer my phone calls of the Iphone and hear TT740 instructions both via the IOPLAY Bluetooth, also setting the Iphone via IOPLAY as mandatory.

Is it possible? If so, please which would be the settings on the BTPS App, on or off for A2DP, Remote, Phonebook, Sensor and Handsfree, for each Connection: car CD Player and IOPLAY?

I have tried it. My problem is to maintain via the Bluetooth Iphone connected to the Car CD player and IOPLAY. Most of the time when switching ignition on only one device seems connecting.

Best regards,

Felipe

Hi

Can anyone please tell me how to change the battery in the IO-Play controller. (The bit with the volume control and buttons.)

Have looked online and tried to download manuals etc but still can't find how.

Thanks,

J

I wasn't aware the controller had a battery, all its power is fed from the car connections that go to the stereo - Mike

Hi Mike,

That's what I thought too but clip below is from IO support FAQ's.

Check the backlighting illuminates on the console when a button is pressed. If it doesn't, the battery may not be installed properly or may need replacing. The battery type is 3V Lithium CR2 battery.

The problem I have is that the controller stopped responding and only lights very dimly. Can still connect to Bluetooth but no control over volume etc.

Thanks,

J

As it happens I have a brandnew iO-Play unit still in its box, so out came the screwdrivers......

I can assure you there are no batteries in the little control unit or either of the orange boxes that form part of the iO-Play unit, I could post up some pictures later.

Should you want to get in to the controller the volume knob has to be pulled off its shaft which takes some force then remove the two Philips head screws that are in the back of the unit, the rear half of the case can now be removed and the PCB along with its cable can be removed..

The larger of the two orange boxes is easy simply remove the four Philips head screws and the case comes apart, again no batteries in here.

The smaller of the orange boxes has four Philips head screws, one of which is hidden under the label where it says "INPUT 12V DC" but again no battery is found inside.

Just have to put it all back together now Wink - Mike
