If you right click and select properties on the postcodes files....

The 835 says Modified 07 July 2009, 14:11:10

And the 840 file says Modified 06 October 2009, 13:22:16

Might not mean anything but something could have been changed Laughing

Please would someone remind me.
Once the zip file is downloaded, how do you install it to the Tomtom. Just unzip to the device? the map? or a specific folder?
Thanks

The unzipped files (.postal and .ver) are put in the "zip" folder of the TomTom. Note that the v835 were zipped as a folder but the v840 ones are just the files themselves.

As always, take a backup first. Smile

I believe the v901 postcode file was simply named incorrectly as it was based on the 2009.01 release of map data from Teleatlas with map v8.30.

There certainly hasn't been a map version that starts v9.xx.

I think the v901 was supposed to be named v8.30 as I got this postcode file with the v8.30 maps!

Hope that makes sense! v901 postcode file should be names v830 postcode file

In the 'zip' folder on your device, there will be two files for the UK postcodes. One is the postcode data 'Great_Britain.postal' and the other is the version information file 'Great_BritainPostal.ver'

Open the second file in notepad, and it should say something like this

[description]
ID=GreatbritainPostal_TeleAtlas
version=840

Its the last line that matters. It should be as in the example here, if not, its out of date and you can get the latest version from the link on this thread!

Hope this helps!

Steven

Yes that is very old! All you need to do is overwrite the 2 files on the device with the same 2 files that you have downloaded from that link above.

Then check the version file has been updated, and you are all set Smile

Don't forget to make a full backup before you add or remove anything!!
