The lead that you are referring to is the aerial for the TMC, (Traffic Message Channel). The socket on the T2 cradle is a 3.5mm headphone type socket, how does the plug on the lead you have compare with a 3.5mm headphone plug?

yes a 3.5mm headphone set fits into the craddle perfectly but the plug on this aerial is to small to fit in to the craddle

That sounds like you have been supplied the wrong aerial, the older RDS aerial used to use an mMCX style coax connector which could be what you have - Mike
