Nice work!

You still need to change this for NAVIGON v1.1.0: (plz).

Call POI - YES.
Itinerary / Waypoints - YES.
Avoid Roads / Detour - YES.

Best Regards;
Tonny

How about including xGPS in the comparison?
Currently it's only available for jailbroken iPhones via Cydia, but they claim the next version will be available from the App Store.

As we can't test it, if you can email the relevant info for the chart then we can look at adding it?

I've had no issues selecting a Navigate to Contact in TT. Tried it with a number of addresses, all work fine.

Regarding Navigate to Contact in TomTom, I've found that addresses ending in United Kingdom don't work but others which don't include the country name do. Unfortunately I can't see any way of deleting the country name from the address.

Not so for me, I can navigate to addresses with United Kingdom in the Address.

I wonder if this is a PC/Mac thing in how the address is synced to the iPhone.

Just a note that v1.1 of Navigon actually came out in Europe (both the pan-Europe and the regional versions) before the US - so we already have Call POI and multiple via point route planning. Perhaps worth noting which features were added in which version of the app? E.g. TTS, iPod control, an auto day/night in Navigon 1.2.

Dutch iPhone site, iphoneclub.nl, has carried out a fairly extensive comparative review of TomTom, Navigon, Sygic and iGO going into a bit more detail than we have here by just comparing the features. If you can handle the broken English of online translation tools then feel free to have a read of the introduction and review.

Love the new ability to select/deselect which apps are shown - nice work guys!

I almost feel sorry for TomTom off on the end there - (Google) Maps and Roadee always seemed strange bed fellows to the self proclaimed Number 1 solution. Now I see G-Map has joined it - much better!

Only problem is the column width doesn't seem happy to accommodate the full table, or is it just me?

Nice work all the same.

By the way, not sure if you've noticed, but TomTom now seem to have an APP/Map combo available for a number of regional territories, in addition to those already listed in the table.

It's possible that availability is restricted to specific region's own app stores (I can't see them from the UK store, but 'App Sniper' which monitors the US store shows them).

I think from the US store you can see, for example, Benelux, D-A-CH, France, Iberia, Italia, Nordic - all appear to be £52.99 (in sterling).

The problem with displaying everything is where do you stop? As more applications get released then the table will grow, using the checkbox options its easy to compare four or five software options at the same time.

If we do a similar page for the PPC based devices or even some of the PND units that would have far too many columns to fit on a single page - As the iPhone software base widens this table will also grow, if its managable from day 01 it makes further additions possible on the same page - Mike

A suggestion for a possible Co-Pilot quirk, (based on an assumption this is only a Co-Pilot issue and does not impact others; I know TomTom is OK).

No ability to define a start point for a (planned) journey other than the current location (assumed or GPS, if available). Makes it impossible to check a future journey route (unless the current iPhone location coincides with the journey start point), check the journey time or mileage between two locations (useful for expense claims etc).

Does that make sense?

//Edit

Oh, and the Co-Pilot website says text to speech (full names) is coming soon as a premium option (amongst a load of other functions), but doesn't say if it end up on the iPhone platform. *Strikes me the Co-Pilot Live 8 moniker is proving a problem when defining each platform's functionality - the online manual is a mess because of this!

First, thanks for updating the chart and adding to it; your efforts are helping us sort through the growing options for these apps.

Just want to add a correction to the g-map column: there are, in fact, six choices of configurable map colours—three for night and three for day—in addition to the night/day option.

Thanks again!

perhaps i'm misunderstanding you but you can go straight to plan/edit route and choose any location for your start?
