|
|
Just purchased a Samsung N110 notebook.
But how do you connect to Wifi hot spots. When i say that, do I need to confirgure Internet Explorer to connect as when I look on the Connection Tab in IE it says nothing about a Wifi connection. I only want to use it at this time to surf the web when out and about.
I have backed it up as new, so can restore if it was to get a virus etc.
Any help appreciated |

Although I have never used your model the usual method should apply. You do not need to do anything in the browser settings.
1. Get within range of a hot spot (sorry for stating the obvious)
2. Switch on the netbook wifi.
3. Right click the connections icon in the system tray (it will be a series of vertical bars until a connection is established). If there isn't a system tray icon, go to start/settings/network connections and right click the wireless connections icon.
4. Select "connect to a network".
5. Double click the network you wish to connect to.
If its a free public service then you are in, if not you will usually be presented with a webpage in your browser to create an account. A private network will require entering the security key.
For any connection there will be a couple of tick boxes to remember the settings for reconnecting in future.
Nice model BTW. Hows the battery life? |

If it is a Notebook running Windows XP then you need to look for an icon in the Notification Tray at the bottom right of the screen that looks like a Computer with radar beams coming out of the side.
The vertical bars are normally seen on Windows Vista / 7.
This guide shows different versions of Windows. Ignore the fact it's talking about BT Openzone, it's all the same. |
