I've never been able to get to grips with tyre, and lost interest when I found it couldn't optimise a route.

Instead of using itinaries I save all the waypoints I might want to visit in a new poi folder then each time I can ask it to navigate to the nearest to my position.

Much more flexible, especially if you decide to miss one out, or to change the order in which you want to visit them.

The first time I used it this month for a journey to Spain it was great, and followed all the waypoints to Spain. My problem was using the reverse .itn function. It didn't seem to won't to follow my down route. It may be because I had one of the settings wrong.

When you do the reverse route you have to check waypoints on dual carriageways and drag them across to the correct side so could that have been the problem?

Thanks Snudge. I didn't realize that. In that case it would be better to do two routes, one there and one back because it is all dual carriage. The instruction for tyre say to have tt set to shortest route, and if that is true that may have also been a problem.

Hi chelsky
As I have said before, Tyre is great boon. However, there is one thing that need pointing out.
It will do what ever you input it to do. So if you enter a waypoint on a dual carriage way/motorway you should always zoom in onto the map to make sure you have placed the waypoint on the correct side of the road. And that is why I fail to see how the reverse Itinerary can work unless you do as Snudge has already suggested.

As far as my holidays to the continent are concerned I plan my Itineraries weeks in advance with separate Itineraries going to my final destination and Itineraries coming back. So far I have never had any problems and as I have said before, the itinerary takes me on the route that I want to travel, not the route that Tomtom wished me to travel.

Hello Trevor. It is what I will do in future. Through ignorance I assumed the reverse .itn would do it. For the outbound journey I did zoom in and put all the waypoints in the correct lane. Still learning. Laughing

Hi chelsky
Another thing that you have to remember when using the Itinerary option is that you must travel over the waypoints entered in your Itinerary.
Example….if the next waypoint is just round the next corner but the road is blocked and you have to follow a Diversion sign Tomtom will not let you resume your journey until you have travelled over that Waypoint and it will have you going round in circles until you have done so.

Should you find yourself in that position you must stop and delete that waypoint (or mark as visited). Its just something to bare in mind.
