Ive just had my Tomtom stolen, so need to purchase a new sat nav. One of the features I really liked about Tomtom 730 was the lane guidance. Does the S90i have this or something similar.I'm considering this unit as the reviews seem favourable and the price is much more reasonable than the Tomtoms. How does it compare overall?

Personally I don't rate the Navman's very highly. I'd urge you to try and get a hands on with one before you buy.

They are cheap for a reason. Consider Garmin as a good alternative if you don't want another TomTom or perhaps a 2nd hand or recon 720 which is finctionally identical to uhe 730 when updated to v8 with v8 maps.

Hmm suprised. I read good things about the s90. What are the major issues in your opinion?

It's dated, it's UI is poor, it's POI support is poor, ongoing support is poor, did i mention its poor Wink

If you want one, then please try one first. It may work for you but coming from TomTom I think you'll be disappointed.

Just my opinion of course.

To reinforce what Darren says, leave this well alone! I had one, thinking exactly like you - good reviews, cheap, liked the camera etc but on using it on a trip to London, it rebooted itself at, what seemed like, every major junction, roundabout and i had no idea of where I was to go. Not the best place!
It supports only 12,000 POI's which means it won't support a full install of just the cameras from here. Anything over this and the unit reboots, slows to a crawl and is generally unusable.
Navman support, when you get them to reply, state they know of its limitations but have no intention of doing anything about it! So there.
I returned to Garmin, by the way of Navigon, and they are both better companies.

The S90i should be chaeap it has been on the market since October 2007 so the maps are 2 years old. When only £99 what would you expect?
Since then they have released the S-3D range (S70 3D) and the Spirit range (S300T) released and as the new maps are due for released another range shortly, so it is nearly 3 ranges old.

The Tomtom 730 was released in 2008 so is newer than the S90i so should have newer maps and i would expect it to be better.
