I can't work out what is going on with this....

I updated (and my maps) last week and since then:

- TMC receiver doesn't display on the side of the screen when plugged in
- I get periodic "blanks" when the screen doesn't redraw
- worst of all central Brighton has gone wrong! The main streets have suddenly been listed as one-way when they aren't and haven't been for as long as I am aware (and weren't on the previous map version!)

North Street for example and the roads running to the town centre from the station and beyond to the sea front are all totally incorrect!

Aaargh!

Neil

Can you tell us what maps and version you have?

Also can you list some more streets in Brighton that are wrong and specifically what is wrong with them?

Also have you ever used, and do you continue to use, MapShare?

Edit: Remove question answered in the post above... Oh, and spelling too...

Try resetting the device before plugging the RDS-TMC receiver back in to the device, if a receiver withthe mini USB style plug? if so make sure that power is applied otherwise these don't work, the round style plug receivers work with/ without vehicle power.

This is a known issue, I guess we will be waiting for another update to cure this issue - Mike

Thanks,

I'm using Go 720, with Home 2.6.3.1609 and Navigator 8.531 and MapShare on (to include "Many Users")

The roads affected are Queens Road and West Street (have now checked a map to get the right names!) and literally were transformed from two way to one way (northbound) overnight by the map update.

The map version is W Europe v830.2305

Mystified...

Make sure you have all your MapShare updates in, as you loose the old ones when you update the maps, and change it to "High" which is TomTom verified and trusted users.

If you have it set to "Many Users" you run the risk of getting inaccurate updates.

Queen Street on my unit (same map as yours) shows open 2 ways and West Street shows there are 3 of them so you'll need to be more specific...

I don't know how many "many users" are, but I would certainly not use that setting. In Home change your settings on Map Share to strict and see if that removes the streets problem.

I haven't compared every road but the Google map looks pretty similar.

Queens Road and West Street look OK on Google map - just all the roads around them are one way.

I guess it probably is map share to blame in that case. I did move the settings down to "many users" in the hope of improving accuracy - the wrong decision by the looks of things! It is interesting to hear that others with the same map don't have that problem...

As for the TMC receiver - after a lengthy set of instructions from TomTom I have now discovered it seems to be a cable break near the plug that is the problem :-( Aaargh!

Just coincidences then (either that or the leprechauns are at work...)

Thanks for the suggestions

Neil

How do we get around this problem?

I've checked the maps on the internal memory of my go530 (v8.351 with map v830.2305) and they are wrongly showing these streets as one way.

I tried my SD card with V8.302 and maps v825.2157 but they are one way on that as well.

Well iosson hasn't confirmed it worked but i would guess that you need to drop the trust level of your MapShare updates to Trusted and run an update again....

If you (or anyone else) still has problems can you be more specific about which roads exactly and what's wrong with them.

I've cancelled the mapshare altogether and the update appeared to do nothing. It's still showing Queens Road (not Queens Street) and West Street as one way whilst Google maps show them as two way.

I'm not familiar with the area but I'm visiting Brighton this week

Which can be out of date!!! It's only worth commenting if you know the roads and have recent knowledge of their situation...

West Street and Queens Road show they are one way on my 740 with traffic flowing away from the sea front towards the Train Station.

Looking at West Street where it meets King's at the sea front shows some barriers have been erected down the middle of the road and close the exit onto Kings Road southbound. Perhaps these temporary restrictions are now permanent?

Further to this there are roadworks in the area according to local websites (4th one down here) so perhaps the changes are temporary?

Once you have been there can you let us know what the situation is?

iosson:-

You said earlier in the original post
"I get periodic "blanks" when the screen doesn't redraw"

I have the TOM TOM 540 LIVE also using navcore 8.351 and my device locked up several times in the week around Cambridge. I too hope they issue an update to stop this. Re-navigating to the destination kicked the unit back into life.

I am off to Brighton in a few months so I hope my map is not having the same problem as you reported.
