No M1 Jnc 29a on new V815 maps!

This sort of dumbfounds me,

This junction has been open a while now (6 to 9 months)! and still its not on the V815 maps

Yes I know updates take time but this is not change to a B Road our housing estate, its an exit from our countries main arterial motorway!. You would think this information would be on hand with Tele Atlas in advance so it was incorporated "Soonish" after something like this changes,

This new junction is a major jump off reroute point for drivers North or South when incidents clog the M1 from J27 south or J32/33 North. So its still manual calcualting in this area till at least the next map update!!!

How long ago did you report it on mapshare?

Surely it is not up to us, the users, to tell TomTom that a major new junction has been built on a motorway? Additionally, all of the slip roads would have to be modelled, lane guidance sorted etc etc, way beyond the abilities of us 'casual' mapshare contributers.

To be fair to TomTom, they do take the information that is supplied to them by Tele Atlas and then with information from various sources, they will update the maps before we get them and that does take time.

Inevitably changes to maps will be prioritised. When you take into account the number of road changes in all the countries mapped, if nothing is reported, then nothing will get moved up priority list.

I only wish that they would sort out changes that are reported and they do know about.

Nope, but I was wondering if they have actually been told about it and done nothing, or just failed to notice for themselves.

Latest maps 825 (downloaded 22/3/09) don't seem to have junction 29a either!

Kind regards,
Mark

It really makes me wonder why these things are so unpredictable. The TT740 (Sept last year, no new map) has the Distington by-pass on it (near Whitehaven) which was only opened recently. So they can be responsive, but how can they then miss a new motorway junction. It is hard to fathom...

[edit] I can't see it on Google Maps - no satellite pics, so perhaps they are waiting for someone to fly over it...

Same with the Roundabout on the A1 at Colsterworth (between STAMFORD and GRANTHAM)...

TomTom have taken out the roundabout in the last 2 updates - and it's STILL there at the moment..

True the roundabout is there, but you cannot access Colsterworth off it, that exit is now blocked, you have to follow the diversions

That's nothing! There is a major one-way system in the middle of Swansea which has been in operation for well over 2 years (which is not very well signed and is confusing for strangers), but this does not yet show on the latest TomTom maps or on Google maps. I noticed that the changes have been entered on the Open Source maps featured recently

Ahhhh...

I was wondering why my TT was telling me to go past that junction and approach Colsterworth village from the North....

That one could be corrected via MapShare if it is just turning existing roads one-way. Have you reported it?

I have reported it five times so far*, the first occasion being about 30 months ago. I have also sent in changes via MapShare, but in two cases roundabouts have been removed so I can't fully make the changes. I am now reluctant to download Mapshare, because I have been plagued with incorrect and mischievous changes made by others.

Robin

* Another error in Swansea, which first appeared in TomTom Navigator 5, I have reported regularly to TeleAtlas and TomTom for about 4 or 5 years, but it's still wrong (OK on NavTeq maps). I even spoke face to face with a TeleAtlas rep at the Newport show a few years ago, and although he promised to get it fixed, nothing has happened. So TomTom continues to try to make you turn right at a dangerous junction where right turns are forbidden

You could set the "trust" level higher, so you don't get corrections from other users, only TT?

Another one that could be corrected on your own map via Mapshare.

As TomTom now own TeleAtlas, this last map release was the first to directly use many of the Mapshare corrections submitted by users, so it is probably the best way to report errors now.

Must be a battle of wills.
