Please post any suggestions you have for improvements that you would like to see in future releases of this software.

Hi.
For anyone reading these forums at Navman-Europe, I would like the ability to add my own custom Points of Interest to the database and to import POIs.

I believe this feature would greatly improve the software.

Comments?

Full postcode searching. The current POI database has full postcodes in there already. using AB12 3** gives a location way off so unless you know the road you will have difficulty locating your destination.

Heres an example:
Cumberland Pencil Museum
Southey works, Greta Bridge, Keswick, Cumbria CA12 5NG

Try the postcode: CA12 5
Try the postcode and Keswick
... you get two different locations.

Motorway junctions... No junction numbers! (well i can't find them)

Add motorway junction numbers to the maps
Add motorway service areas to the POI and maps.

I tried to navigate to an intersection and it would not recognise any motorway intersections? Am I doing something wrong here?

The ability to change the 3D view angle from the map screen rather than having to navigate to the main menu and setup to change it then back to the map view to see the result and back again to change it etc... etc...

(am I the only one with a wish list??)

I wish that when I enter a postcode, it wouldn't be in red and force me to reduce the number of characters.
Plus when you change part of the address higher up, it didn't delete the rest of the address below it

The ability to pause a route guidance, for instance, at motorway services, so that the s/w takes note that you're having a break (or whatever), and you don't have to re-set the damn journey after you've had your break. i.e., all you'd need to do it unpause the route.

That make any sense?

Discussion on this post has been moved to here. Tim

Heres a few improvements I'd like to see in future versions of SmartST:

* Support for multiple destinations!!!

* Ability to search for POIs along a predefined route. For instance, look for nearest petrol station

* Ability to retrieve information about a POI by "double clicking" on its icon on the map

* Ability to specify a destination by latitude and longitude

* Ability to easily (without using the stylus) change between the data fields displayed on the navigation screens (DTG, TTG, ETA, Speed etc)

* Display the same data on the 2D screen as the 3D screen!!!!

* Ability to view longitude and latitude information for stored favourites

* Ability to store favourite routes and/or record routes. Sometimes your own experience is better than the calculation algoritms in the program.
(I know there is a recording function already, but I haven't found out the usage of it...)

* Ability to create a log from a driven route including stops

* Support for dynamic rerouting with TMC

* Support for import of POIs

* Warning for certain POIs along the route, e.g speed cameras

According to leaked reports, such as this one, at least some of your wishes are going to come true, as the V3 software for the PPC will be almost the same as for the iCN 635.

Sounds like hot stuff!! :D

Let's just hope that the SmartST v3 software will run well on a PPC with 64MB RAM. I'm using an iPAQ 2210.

I've recently had an email conversation with Navman about map updates for Europe and have been promised a new release in October (probably not for free). I hope this release will include the SmartST v3 SW as well!!

I've used SmartST v2 for a couple of months now and am quite happy except for some hangings the missing features I've mentioned. The best part is the clear map displays! If I get support for multiple destinations and POI warning I will be even happier! I'm also hoping for some improvements in the map coverage.

Uploadable POI is top of my list......the speed camera one would be the 1st to go on....

(I'd like to point out, I dont Speed, but it would be usefull to have a warning that I'm entering a "Accident hotspot", so I could take extra care.....)

An improvement in the rouitng capabilities and options, possibly being able to give preference to A roads etc. I welcome new features in the next version but they need to get the routing right first as too many times i've been guided to dead ends or up roads that are not suitable for normal vehicles (especially in europe).

The facility to change higher or lower the speed settings for A and B roads like TomTom has. This will then calculate the best route using my preferred roads and wherever possible keep me on them.

Too late for version 3 but maybe for version 4 ????

It could then be used to prevent the use of narrow lanes or unsurfaced roads in situations like towing etc...
