I just received an email saying they hoped that I was now enjoying the FREE live services.

"Dear T

Are you making the most of your free TomTom LIVE Services?

Don't forget – you get real-time traffic information, safety alerts, the cheapest fuel and great places to go out... all free!

Did you know..?
...that the average driver receives two speeding tickets per year. With Safety Camera alerts you know what's ahead!

...that there is a way out of the jam? With HD Traffic you really know where the jams are, so you can avoid them.

Your free LIVE Services bundle:

HD Traffic™ giving your traffic updates real time
Safety Alerts to nearby fixed and mobile safety cameras
Fuel Prices to find the cheapest petrol station
Local Search with Google to find local restaurants, shops and businesses
QuickGPSFix™ to fix your location and get going faster
And more"

There is a link to click on for "find out more", I click on it then I get the web page with the message copied below:

"Unfortunately you have received this e-mail from us that is not relevant to you. We kindly request you ignore this email"

Well this annoys me so much all I can say is F U TomTom.

Looks like a major SNAFU at TomTom. Who this email was intended for we don't know but this and another email sent out today was a mistake. I've just received this from TT:

Quote:
Dear customer,

Unfortunately you have received an e-mail from us about
Live Services that is not relevant to you.
We kindly request you to ignore this e-mail.

Our apologies for any inconvenience caused,

The TomTom team

@ Darren

Earlier in the day I got an email about my Live account expiring soon and reasons why I should subscribe.

About 2 minutes after that email, I got another one thanking me for my continued subscription and all the benefits I can now enjoy!

In the last 5 mins though, I have received TWO of these emails :-

Dear customer,

Unfortunately you have received an e-mail from us about
Live Services that is not relevant to you.
We kindly request you to ignore this e-mail.

Our apologies for any inconvenience caused,

The TomTom team

EDIT - So that was about 4 emails from tomtom.com in about 10mins!

I got this email as well. What had me rather quizzical was the statement that "the average driver receives 2 speeding tickets per year". This means that the average driver would be banned, so there would be no such thing as an average driver because he wouldn't be a driver.

I strongly suspect the NA rollout of the 740 is imminent, which does come with a year's worth of live services at no charge. Perhaps intended for North America?

EDIT: Ooops. . . just noticed they talk about HDTraffic, which won't be offered for now in NA. so I guess it's not for us either.

Did you notice the price offer on the email? I got one saying my live services were about to run out and there was a monthly, 6 monthly and yearly option, the yearly option was a half price offer of €59.99 (same as 6 months) but the link was dead.

This is the url

It is actually very simple

During the first 3 months you get free LIVE services.

TomTom are supposed to email you about half way through that period making sure you are getting good use of your free services. That way you get hooked and want to pay for them when the time is up.

Nobody is missing out on anything here! No conspiracy!

I don't think anyone is suggesting that, just talking about tt sending out emails then cancelling them, and dead links to half price offers.

more a cock up than a conspiracy, and I think everyone is aware of the 3 month trial

I beg to differ. Sending me an email offering me something at a discount price, and when I accept the offer telling me I can't have it after all means that I am missing out on something.

Agree that it is not a conspiracy. Organising one of those would be way beyond TT's capabilities.

Apologies...the email I got and I believe the OP did not mention the half price thing. But just seemed ot be focussed on what I think was meant to come half way through the free trial period.

I see later in the thread the reference to reduced/discounted purchase offers for Live services. That is VERY annoying to find out about. I agree.

I pay monthly right now though. Perhaps if I cancel, they will come back to me begging for renewals at a discounted price! Smile

I wonder how many tickets the 'above average' and 'below average' drivers get ??? Wink
