sd memory card

Hi,
I have a Garmin nuvi 250.
There is a tint slot on it's side. Is this for sd memory card?
If so, I did not get this when I purchased the device. What is this sd card slot used for please?

yes - it's an SD card slot. You won't have got anything in it when you bought it - it's expansion capability.

You can load additional mapping (e.g. USA) and/or MP3s / images / POI's the list is endless.

Basically the nuvi's come with just the amount of memory neede to run and if you intend to really add lots of additional things then Sd card is the way to go. Also - if anything you use causes a problem - removing the card 'should' fix it.

If you get an SD card (check size - you may be limited to non-SDHC) put a folder called Garmin at the top level then you should be able to see it from apps like POILoader.
