Hi All,

I have been tinkering with a TT7 for my PDA WM6, i have noticed that when you use TT7, it also seems to activate ActiveSyc - so thats running in the background using up valuble reasources.

Any ideas why this happens, and if so how can I stop it!

Thanks

MPW

ActiveSync will start regardless of TTN7. I have no firm idea why and it does not bother me. If you Google "fake server" or similar you will find a way to prevent start up, but IIRC it is a laborious solution.

The only time i have found activesync to activate is when you connect to the PC with the Usb lead or bluetooth if thats the way you sync, id you are connected and alter anything that requires to be synced then it will sync automatically, either of these can be configered to act or not.

We are speaking of the background process on the device, not the actual synchronisation.

Look in the task manager.

Just to clarify, ActiveSync comes on when using TT7 ( without connection to PC via USB lead )
If i check there are no programs running, then run TTn7, check again and activesyncs comes on.

I dont use any push emails or anything on my pda, only sms and have a wap connection. ( not gprs )

I have tried to search for fake server but not really seen anything which seems to say this stops ttn7 turning on activesync?

Sadly this does bother me, as my poor phone doesnt have much ram left when running ttn7.

thanks !

Forget about TTN7.

From task manager, stop ActiveSync. Do not do anything with your device for several minutes and let it sleep, an hour perhaps.

Look back in task manager and ActiveSync will possibly be running. Nothing to do with TTN7.

A couple of links to the fake server trick here and an ancient one here.

Thanks for your help, sadly the problem continues.

I tried creating the fake server, and both then deleting it and leaving it.

Im 99.9% certain it IS TT7 that activates activesync, I have been checking phone all day to see if activesync come on and it didnt. then opened up tt7 and hay presto its back again.

Also not that impressed that its now changed from `yards` to `feet` in the distance to direction bit. whys that, all the poi warnings are still in yards?
This now makes my WVM voice a bit merry on his travels!

Cheers
