But the links do have a .jsp (Windows Journal for tablet?) extension. Perhaps this may confuse the file associations.

Not sure where you are seeing those extensions as they are not present in the links whichever way I view them?

Windows mail, right click the link, select "copy shortcut", paste into Notepad.

And if you look at the Newsletter on the website via the link at the top of the email?

Must be some MS Windows Mail oddity.

Hallo????

Summat's not quite right.

It's your first attempt at it?

Might there be a clue there?

Same .jsp extension, but I do not have a problem anyway with FF3 or IE7. Not pouring scorn, It's that just I checked links from other sites and none displayed that extension.

Ok, I've hived this off from the original thread as it is OT for that subject.

As the actual links work fine I'm not going to spend too much time on this save to suggest you stop using IE or install QuickTime Smile

Quicktime can be one of the most intrusive little you can put on a PC. Amongst other irritations, it steals file associations and will try it's damndest not give them back whatever you do!

Someone recently accused me of sounding arrogant on a forum - you should hear the Apple gurus when you dare to suggest there's something wrong with their precious Quicktime plugin!

May I humbly suggest Quicktime Alternative?

I have QuickTime installed and Firefox is my default browser.

I've never before had a problem with links in e-mails, including those in PGPSW Newsletters, or had one open a webpage inside Outlook Express. Confused

It was meant to be tongue in cheek, if we wanted you all to use QT or lump it we wouldn't go to the trouble of authoring a .wmv version!

At the end of the day I've no idea why these video links cause OE or WMail to behave like they do! Next time I'll just link to the web page in the Newsletter and then the issue won't arise.

It's yet another example of the many many reasons why I moved to a Mac when I retired from the IT industry!

Darren, This wasn't directed to you since your post made no mention of QT prior to you editing your post. It merely reflects my own opinion and experience of the full blown QT version.

No mention at the time of the thread split. Still visible in RSS if it was running at the time.

But this is going further from topic, which is going nowhere.
