Hi all,

I have just changed my TMC lead to the new 4V00.014 mini usb one and I am getting no signal what so ever, where as the old 4V00.013 picked up signal in a few minutes this new one had no signal even after a 45 minute drive this morning.

I have ver 8.010 firmware and 810 western europe map.

I have 2 of these leads as my brother wanted one and neither of them seam to pick up a signal.

The 720 does say TMC connected when I plug the power lead in.

Any idea's or is this lead just rubbish!!

Sad

From experience I would say the newer USB connected RDS-TMC is slightly better than the older variant, have you had an RDS-TMC signal since upgrading the software? I often find the device takes longer to acquire the FM signal following a software upgrade, once the device has found a signal though subsequent times are much less - Mike

if i plug my older 4V00.013 in it gets a signal pretty quickly, nothing with either of the 4V00.014 usb leads though.

Just to make sure of the software version on your device after the number 8,010 will be another number in brackets, can you let me know what this is so I can load the same release to my 720 to try it out - Mike

Where did you purchase these RDS-TMC devices from as they need to be European to work in the UK.
I know the new style receiver works with the software version you have on the device because I have used that combination previously - Mike

I wouldn't know if they are .014 models but I have two if the mini USB modules and they both work fine. The data isn't that great but reception is generally good.

I ordered one of these (4V00-014) from Amazon for the bargain price of £17.99.

It only arrived this morning so I haven't had a chance to try it in the car yet, but it picked up a signal within 5 minutes indoors, and when I planned a route it alerted me to a traffic incident.

So it seems to be working, but I have yet to discover how well!

I ordered 2 one for my brother one for me, I have tried both in my 720 and they haven't worked, where my v13 lead picks up in minutes, my brother plug one into his 520 which like yours gave him a signal witin a few minutes, I have stuck with it and after 3 hours driving down the m5 to cornwall It eventually got a signal, as I am down here for the week it apears to be working ok around here.

It will be interesting to see if it works all the way home!! Smile

I updated and use the new Mini usb 4.0014 lead and have got good results from it..The lead seems more powerful that the older type one and theres less leads as its powered by the saem plug as the main one...

Well I have to say my new V3 mini USB one is even worse than the pathetic V1 model.Whereas the V2 picks up a signal within 10 seconds I can't get a signal at all on the new one even after driving 90 miles today I got nothing, stopped and swapped to the V2 and hey presto locked on and gave me info.RUBBISH
