|
|
I'm considering buying a device as a present. I have a ONE V2 as a reference point. One thing I *don't* like about it is how it self discharges its battery in about a week of non-use. Also the battery life in use is very short (designed only for setting up destinations before you go really).
garmin claim 'up to 5hrs' on many products. What the reality? And do they flat quickly on their own (switched off) too? |

hi
i have a garmin nuvi 300. the battery "never" flattens itself (i.e. in my experience the charge will hold over a period of 3 or 4 weeks without a problem). as for batttery life in use, this depends i think on screen brightness, whether you are navigating or just using the map view etc. i've never actually tested battery life but i've been on 3-4 hour journeys and with a full charge have had no problems. my colleague who regularly travels with me and has a tomtom was extremely impressed with the battery life of the nuvi.
perhaps some of the more heavy duty users hear can add further detail?

I've had four hours navigation out of my 760 regularly on the battery. |

Battery life also depends on other factors such as using the Bluetooth (even just having a phone connected), Volume, Screen Brightness, FM transmitter etc. |

I had my nuvi760 on a trip last week and since i had to charge my mobile phone i had it running on battery for a while. It was navigating, bluetooth - phone connected and playing music by transmitting radio. It lasted for a full 4 hours before i got my first "low battery" message! |

My 2 yr old c510 does 2x 3-4 hr delivery trips per day on battery, with a 20-25 minute charge on the way back to the depot between trips.
(its far easier to grab it off the dash at every drop and pocket it).
No other unit comes anywhere near it for battery life. |
