When my 520 is connected to my PC, I can see INTERNAL as a new drive.

However I can't see the SD card via Windows.. Which means HOME can't update any maps on it...

Any ideas ?

Thanks

Windows usually will see the SD card. Daft question, I know, but have you got an SD card in it? I ask because they come with a blank lump of plastic in the slot and you wouldn't be the first person to mistake it for a real one.

Hi

Thanks for the reply. Yes it has an SD card in it !!

The TomTom can read it fine, but Windows won't see it when it's in the TomTom. If I plug it into my SD reader it's fine.

Someone has told me this only works if you format the SD as FAT in the TomTom.

Any ideas ?

What size is the card, the TT devices can often mess up when large capacity SDHC cards are installed, more often when you write to them rather than reading though, the other issue could be one of card read/ write speed the TomTom will tend to ignore cards with a read speed that is too slow - Mike

Hi Mike
The card I'm testing with a 256MB card, I've also tried a 2GB card.

Strange thing is it works fine in Windows and in my TomTom. But I can't access it via the TomTom when connected to home.

Try a pin reset with the card in the unit and another pin reset with the card out of the unit and see if that helps.

Want to give a shot at running the Clear Flash tool here? http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?FID=6211&Lid=4&nostat=1

Probably won't help ... but it won't hurt, either.

Great I've only just got it back after it had to have the USB connector fixed !!

I decided to run clearflash.
Now I have 2 devices showing in My Computer.

K: INTERNAL
J: But I can't access this !!
Properties show 0 bytes available and in use.

The card is working fine in the TomTom, just not via windows.

Can you try the card in a card reader rather than the TomTom, does the PC see the contents of the card this way? - Mike

You may want to go to this link and dl the sd formatting tool:

Windows works fine with the SD card ( I have tried other cards with the same results)

The TomTom works fine with the SD card, but windows fails to see it when inserted in the TomTom.

Since I ran clearflash I now get another driver in My Computer, but if I click on it, it advises no drive is available !!

I will try the SD formatting tool tonight !!

Thanks
