A further lack of data is in the 'house number' area.

There are loads of streets for which TT reports there are no house numbers.

Again contrast this with my Garmin eMap and Autoroute - these will find house numbers on the roads with which TT is utterly incompetent!

Where have TomTom gone to, I ask myself. I have used theit software for 10 years (when known as Palmtop) when their Customer Support was supperb. But now, what do we get but NO SUPPORT with an equally poor lack of interest andresponse.

I don't think I will be waiting for TTN4

Do Garmin eMap and Autoroute also use TeleAtlas data?

No, they both use Navtech (now NAVTEQ) data.

Whilst showing TTN3 to my workmates, I noticed that Sunderland Tyne and Wear is not in the database. Areas in the city are such as Hendon which comes up as Hendon Tyne and Wear. This makes it awkward if you only know an address as Sunderland city centre.

Hi All.
I'm a very new user to TTN3 and its my 1st Sat nav system. How do you do a post code search? is there some other add-on needed to find places by just entering the postcode?

Another place wrong is Stanley which is in County Durham, not Perth and Kinross.

Another place name that's missing is Oakham, Rutland. For some reason m road and every other road in my town are actually listed as being in Barleythorpe. That's a village about a mile away.

Paul.

Hey no-one. How long have you been in Oakham? I used to live in King's Road in the mid 70s. My parents still live in Rutland, and although I was born in Stamford, we lived in Rutland at the time, so I consider myself a Rutlandite.

I was born here in 1980. Always lived here. I do kind if want to go somewhere else now though.

I found out yesterday that if I view the Europe map Oakham is there yet not on the Britain map. Quite odd.

Aaargh. That makes me feel really old! I left Catmos in 1978. And I worked at Ruddles Brewery in Langham before they built houses on it. Evil or Very Mad

As I've posted before, both Navigator 2 and Navigator 3 have a bug in which they sometimes display the wrong 'administrative area' (Navigator 2) or county (Navigator 3) in brackets after a place name. I believe this is in part due to Navigator always picking one version of a place name when there's several places of the same name in the database (for example, Marylebone in London, and Marylebone in Greater Manchester). However, I'm not convinced that's the only thing happening here.

This one is purely a cosmetic bug, which is why I left it out of the 'open letter' about address lookup and database issues in Navigator 3.

Further, as it's a fairly systematic kind of problem, there's little point reporting individual cases of it. Places missing entirely from the database is another issue entirely - report them here, though arguably reports should also go in on the TeleAtlas error reporting form.

Travelling West on the A14, where it joins the M6 at M1 J19, there are no instructions for the junction. It appears as if you carry on the A14 until you get to the M42.
There are clear instructions for the slip roads, roundabouts etc travelling from West to East.
The instructions were Ok in TTN2

Interestingly............ if you search for a Railway station (buxton, disley, knutsford) abd then show on map it shows the right railway stationand then for a few seconds a little text box is there with either BUXTON, DISLEY, KNUTSFORD in it................. so the map does know where it is!!

Maybe using the POI feature for the missing towns is an idea?
