Thanks, Mike.

Reading between the lines I thought that's what you were saying, but wanted to be sure.

Eh? Every TomTom since the Classic has had a mini-USB socket, Mike!

What about the x10 units they don't have a mini USB connection point only the strange six pole socket for the traditional RDS-TMC - Mike

True, I was thinking along the lines of "they all have a USB socket as they all connect to a PC via it".
But I forgot the x10s don't have it on the windscreen mount, only on the home dock.

But everything else has one.... Wink

Last night I ordered the Currys TMC cable via their website to collect at local store this morning on way to work.

The one I was offered was NOT as shown on the website!!! It was the older egg-shaped version with a mini jackplug connector.

After pointing out the website showed a different version, they agreed and said they would notify their Head Office!!

Has anyone actually bought the newer USB aerial from Currys?

PS: TomTom have both on their website (£49.95!)

That's rather worrying because the Currys web site only lists the newer USB receiver, so there doesn't appear to be any excuse for confusion.

Maybe it depends on whether individual stores have restocked.

Maybe - but looking at the pricing, the Currys £29.99 is more in line with the web prices for the old version.

If they ARE going to sell the newer USB version at that price, then it's a hell of a difference to TomTom's £49.99.

I'll pop back into the store later today and see what the latest news is.

I visited my local Currys today and confirmed that the product code (904240) given on their web site for the newer receiver matches the in-store product code for the older non-USB receiver.

Looks like anyone who orders this on the internet for home delivery is not going to be a happy bunny.

Someone has made a boo-boo here! Rolling Eyes

According to Currys customer services, they only stock one TT TMC receiver - so it doesn't look like anybody will be receiving the newer, USB receiver from Currys.

After speaking to a contact in our local Trading Standards office, it looks like Currys are being a bit naughty here. If the product is obviously different, such as connections (USB/mini jack) and shape (box/egg) then this could be misleading.

She is going to see if the website should be changed to give a true illustration of the product!

Interesting!!! Cool

So we have a definitive answer to which units are & are NOT compatible with the new USB TMC device or is someone going to be doing a batch of tests?

I'd like to know so that if it's 100% compatible with my TTG720 then I'll probably invest in it, otherwise I think I'll either have to give a miss or upgrade to a 730T! Rolling Eyes

I can assure you it will work coupled to an x20 device, but you might have an issue finding one for sale - Mike

I bought the old style one from Curry's and to be honest I get good reception and the TMC info has been accurate, to the point where I didn't believe it and ended up getting stuck in traffic, should have listened to the advise
