Priceless stuff!

Quote:
Analysis of speeding and red light offences in West Yorkshire by age of offender between 2005-2007 reveals that, out of a total of 141,242 offences, fewer than 7% - 9737 – were committed by drivers aged 16-24.

Quote:
40% male and 30% female drivers killed were aged 16- 29.

Hmm, so the young people don't commit the offences (or don't get caught), but they are the ones getting killed. And the more mature drivers are the ones who get caught out by the cameras yet they are the safest drivers... What a great road safety tool!

Quote:
three main reasons for the continuing toll among young male
drivers:

• fatalities from drink-driving are on the increase
• seatbelt wearing is low, especially among passengers at night
• unlicensed, unqualified and illegal driving

So what's the answer? MORE CAMERAS! Yeah, that'll stop the idiots who drive around drunk in stolen cars!! NOT

Goodness me, these coppers are one step ahead of us all the time.

This statement is worthy of a front page headline.
PGPSW DIRECTOR GETS SPEEDING TICKET

Almost as funny as watching drivers doing 60 through the 30mph specs on the A316. Laughing

He's not so bad, although I'll reserve final judgement until I can confirm that he replaced his nice orange thing with something nice, not a black VW with mega loud speakers and a baseball cap.

I think statistics have proven that 95% of statistics are inaccurate.. Laughing

In my experience, the numbers of speeders in the age ranges identified, are actually quite inaccurate. I would say in my area, there is a fairly even spread (although I work in Edinburgh, so it is mainly locals).

In the stats shown, it doesn't account for the fact that the younger age group are not generally the ones who are driving up and down the country on business, so they are not the ones driving on roads they may not know, with camera positions, they might just trip over. You can make stats read what you want them to.

Like......in the majority of accidents, drunk drivers are not involved, making it safer to drive whilst drunk than when sober !!

I just found a great way to avoid speeding. I bought myself a Focus ST ! When I ordered it, I could buy a litre of unleaded at 95p and now locally it's £1.17 . It seemed like a good idea at the time, but I now have to drive with an ultra-light right foot.

I have to save my heavy right foot for when I am at work, in my other car (pictured left). Laughing Wink

You only have to re-apply for a driving licence at 75, pending a medical. Stuff like being able to read the top line of THE SUNDAY TIMES, or being of sound mind to be able to choose a Flap cap or straw Trilby, and if they require leather gloves to steer.

DennisN can still tick all of these boxes, but ticking boxes is not a requirement.

Stop it! You would never have dared post that if you hadn't known I'd be far away on holiday when you did it.

Go find an "I can be brave when DennisN is away on holiday" smileycon.

Ok! But I knew you'd be back eventually. By the way you can use a space or two on your signature! Wink

I shall go on holiday again when I choose, so there. It'll be nnth August if you can bear to wait. Taunt
