I have just upgraded to 8.010, using TomTom Home, and everything, well almost everything, seems fine.
Using a TT 520 the problem is that TT Home will not work when my devise is attached to the computer. Redownlowded TTHome and used another computer and still no joy. This means that I can no longer recieve any more updates. Any ideas chaps?
I keep getting an error message
HOMERuntime.exe failed with error 0

If anyone is still getting this problem then remove your SD card. That is what was causing the error on my device.

I was out yesterday with my 520.
Seemed at first to have trouble keeping up with my physical position on road and also not indicating full GPS signal level.

After a soft restart it seemed better but I did note that twice two of it's computer generated voice messages played at the wrong speed making them sound a little odd.

I shall wait till the new v8 maps are released in case TT make another upgrade causing the x30 v8 maps to no longer work on a x20 unit.

I did about 120 Miles on Sunday with my 520 V8 Software and V8 Map and I was very impressed. It kept up with my posistion all the time no problems with voices. Lane Guidance worked a treat but I only saw it a couple of times on the A52.

The most annoying thing was the incorrect road speeds, travelling along the A46 at 60 then all of a sudden for no reason TomTom beeping at me, it thought the road speed had changed to 30 when it had not.

They have also fixed the voice telling me to turn right at one point when the route is to turn left.

Also traffic showed a green circle nearly all the time at one point I lost a quarter of the circle but it came back to full almost straight away no hold ups shown and none encountered.

All in all I am very happy with the upgrades.

I definitely think I'll be waiting for the official product release to make sure that if I have any problems, I'll be able to get technical support should it be required.

I'm tempted to try out the v.805 map but if the next map is due out in August then I think I'll wait.

By waiting for the official release, I know that I won't get any hassle or flak from TT.

Life's always a gamble, isn't it?!

At best, you buy the maps now and save up to 30%, or at worst you'll have to buy new maps after the sale ends.

So far, the gamble has paid off for me and a few other people Laughing

Yes, some nice features.

I only wish that ALG and "Reality View" appeared more than half a mile in advance - if you're not in the correct lane by then, it's often/usually too late to change safely.

I hadn't realised it was that close!

I've always thought that the distance to exit slip roads etc. is misleading anyway.
It seems to be calculated to count down to zero at the furthest point of the junction, at the point where the road actually splits, so at "0" you are well past any chance of taking the exit.

I've certainly learnt to live with it, but it's annoying, and if that is the datum used to trigger the ALG and reality view then that sounds much too late!

Guess it depends upon how fast you are approaching the junction Laughing

From my perspective I have found it to be OK and no, I don't drive slowly....

Why would I?

At the end of the day if I get them when they are officially released and install them and it goes wrong, I'll have justifiable case for support, whereas by installing them when they're not officially for the device then you give the perfect reason for TT to wash their hands of you & say you got yourself into the mess you get yourself out of it.

Yes Andy Its always puzzled me why Tomtom use the point where the road actually splits. But its nothing new, they were using it on Tomtom navigator 3 years ago. I would have thought that common sense would have chosen Zero yards (and the words ‘Take the exit’) to coincide at the point where the slip road actually starts. I wonder who made the decision.

Downloaded version 8 map of UK and Ireland for my 720 but home says this map is not compatable with my devise? I have version 8.010 software installed on my devise. How do I fool TOMTOM home into letting me download the 730 v8 map?. Is there another way to download the maps brought from TomTom without using home?
