The good news is there are some guys skinning the iGo8 navigation display to function like TomTom.

Interesting, certainly the igo8 screen display could do with a beneficial tidy up, and with this and a map update would make me upgrade.

The Igo8 screen display is probably one of its let downs if upgrading from tomtom, On 31/2 inch PDA the actual visible map area is 60 x 44mm on the tomtom and 42-45 x 44mm on the IGO8 the first dual measerement on the igo being bucause of differing protusions of the side bar into the map display, so in my opinion the display could do with some tweaking and also tomtom could do with some added functuality, the igo map does appear to show more detail although I got fed up after 5 mins waiting for the tomtom to get a signal although tt on sirf3 and igo on mio168.
Dont take this as being a comparison between Igo and tomtom because they differ enormously, I am just trying to highlite some of the points that upgraders might find.

If you want more map display use the 2.6 skin (plus it fixes and enhances speed camera alerts, also adds features which for some reason the company left out/turned off).

See example

Interesting Adam, but perhaps too simplistic?, I would like to see the Direction Icon a little bit smaller, Unfortunately I only have the unit on loan so dare not mess about with it, but certainly the additional skins give food for thought, Overall I am impressed with IGO8 subject to a couple of minor points but Thanks and will search further.

Not really, i only have what i consider to be useful on screen (actual time, distance left, arrival time) but you can adjust it to show other things but with tts i hardly look at the screen.

It should be the same size as the one underneath, if those small things got sorted, it could be one serious contender.

Check out the map coverage. The whole reason I borrowed the rig was the map of Dubai (UAE).

Point Noted Adam, Unfortunately not in position to try these skins but quick search on Google reveals quite a lot of skins available some quite awsome,
Also agree with mullet quite a good range of maps unfortunately UK is still outdated Teleatlas certainly in my locality but cannot speak for overall UK.
Again reported one 4yrs out of date and one road next to me still spelt wrong after 7 yrs now 5th report, we can but try.

For me it will be a big advantage if I'll be able to cancel the warning just tapping the icon. Unfortunately, iGo 8 is not supporting this function, and when I'm leaving on the junction, usually I have to restar iGo. Otherwise, it's giving me the warning constantly.
Well, maybe some of the future versions of the Ultra skin will support this. Smile

Yes, I thought so, check out the Ultra skin version 2.8 here:

"Tap and Hold" on the orphaned section camera cancels it. Wink
