Hi Noticed that the new iPhone is built in GPS is available from 11th July. I have a TH-Bury hands free kit in my car. During phone calls the radio is muted and the conversation runs through the car speakers. I understand this is not the case with the sat nav programs and in fact you end up with no sound at all! Does anyone know how to get around this?? Confused

My Bury car kit with a Treo mutes my in-car radio only during calls; TomTom Navigator continues to function through the device's own speaker.

I'd wait until the 11th July when the 3G iPhone is actually released, and see what appears on Apple's App. Store.

Apparently Apple will be able to update the 3G's operating system over the air to overcome jailbreaking (so it's unlikely we'll be able to load up un-sanctioned applications; the iPhone 2.0 code user agreement says you can't use the 3G GPS-A for real time navigation; Although IGO, Navigon and TomTom Navigator are all rumoured to be running on iPhone, I doubt Apple will support downloads from the App Store if they break the licence by offering real time navigation. Then there's the issue of Bluetooth not being accessible through the SDK, so for example there doesn't appear the option to use A2DP, and I doubt a 3rd party app. could send any bluetooth commands that the Bury or other kits could use...

Best to wait for clarification nearer the 11th before worrying about 'how' - let's get the answer to 'if' first!
