Henry might I suggest you send urgently via their support system a message stating that they most certainly have an issue with these mounts. Theuy claim noone has complained !!!! Mine has dropped off so many times that has developed a low volume whistle and they refuse to replace it only repair it. I need it daily as I drive for a disabled Charity. I intend to send them the link from this site.

That is a lie, plain and simple! I have complained on a number of occasions using their ticket system, and so they have a record. Pretty sure many others will have done so too.

Ask them if they would be prepared to confirm such a statement in writing, and subsequently before a court under oath?

Guess what They are gong to send me yet another holder same as the other three they have already sent. No mention of actually replacing the entire product. They keep wanting me to send my unit away to have the whistle issue sorted. Thus leaving me with no Satnav to drive around with in a minibus with disabled passengers on days out. Which this time of year is virtually every day!!!
Oh Dear!!!!!!!! Thy claim still no one has complained.

I have the same problem. Keeps falling off the screen. If they cant make a mount for a Ford Focus what can they make one for?
Never had this problem with my old original GO, it also had a hot shoe power connection. Talk about going down hill!!!
P.S I have complained.

They maintain not only is there nothing wrong with them but they don't know there was an issue due to no complaints. I think we need to complain en masse!

I've had nothing but trouble with the original mount that came with my 720, I tried the Brodit and it's just awful and an extremely overpriced piece of junk, however I have found that this one at £14, whilst not the most elegant of solutions works really well and hasn't come adrift once, in fact it's often a battle to remove it! Laughing

I think they do a version for your machine. Very Happy

Ahhh... Could you say what was wrong exactly?
I was just about to buy one (just this bit:

to mount directly onto an existing Brodit "move clip".
Is that swivel joint itself not OK?

As an aside, against my better nature, I tried the 'budget' one (SKU3083) from Buybits:

and it was dreadful... The vent clips had some sort of locking rings that fell straight off, there was no supporting leg at the bottom, and worst of all, you couldn't get the standard TomTom right-angled power/USB plug into its socket because the mount plate got in the way!
I've not tried thir Arkon or HRones, but have heard good reports.

I chose the one that sits on the dash.

It's an absolute devil to fit to my car (a 07' Golf Mk5), even if you use the tool provided, even then it takes quite a bit of strength to fit it!

It then sits over the air vent which renders it useless, so you can forget it if you want some air particularly if it's raining!

There are NO pre-drilled holes so you need either a bradawl or small drill to attach the actual swivel & tilt mount and you'll more than likely find that the angle the the TT ends up at will be appalling an make the display really awkward to see, unless of course you add the wedge to improve the angle which is an absolutely extortionate £13 for 10° (top) or £20 for 15° (bottom) Shocked for a small wedge of plastic!

I disliked the end result so much I removed it completely and bought a flexible mount for £14 from Amazon; Whilst not the most appealing to look at has proven highly reliable & an absolute devil to remove at times and is far better than the Brodit mount.

With my Tom Tom 3rd Edition I found there to be a differences on how the mount "stuck" to different car windscreen.

Mounted on a Toyota Yaris windsscreen, no moisture required and stayed solidly mounted.

On a VW Gold (Mk 5) no moisture and the mount quicky fell off, slightly moistened and the mount remained solidly mounted.

The curvature of the car models windscreen could have some bearing on peoples mounts falling from their windscreens.

It's nice to find someone else who doesn't like the Brodit mounting solutions! After seeing all the glowing reports here I paid around £25 for a clip and mount for my Ford KA, and hated it.
I found it was a struggle to fit, and I objected to paying that much and then having to drill holes in it. Once in place it rendered the air vent useless, and I'm not sure that having hot air blown into the back of the device can do it much good anyway. When I finally tried using the TomTom the position it was mounted at meant taking my eyes too far from the road to glance at it.

So I removed it and, for a while, used a dash disk with the original mount and I now use an Arkon screen mount, both of which enable me to position the device so that it's at the very bottom of the windscreen, where it doesn't interfere with my vision of the road, and I hardly have to move my eyes to glance at the device.

I don't imagine anyone else here drives a KA, but I have a Brodit mount which I'd happily send to anyone who does for the cost of the postage.

Thanks for your replies Wazza_G. and Anita. I agree wholeheartedly with your thoughts about pricing. I want one of their simple "L" brackets (just a flat bit of plastic) and have to buy three for £12.99

But do you remember if the actual swivel bit that I pictured above worked OK, please?

The swivel bit works fine supporting a Go device, it is the same part I used to mount my 720 in the home made holder I fabricated out of the Home Docking shoe.
There is a philips head screw to increase the friction between the two parts, don't over tighten this though as they can snap - Mike
