Hi Andy_P

You are right, even the option of downloading the version 8.010 for the x20 via the backdoor has now ceased. My God! The file must be more precious than gold.

Well, mapshare updates haven't removed the camera warnings for me. (For those that are about to say I'm lucky please note that that has happened when I've been 40 miles away from the computer so work that one out). Possible it's because I have upgraded Home yet (running on 2.2.2.83 still at present).

Anyone seen the new battery low indicator - if you thought the compass was small, think again. Sad

Can anyone confirm whether the RDS-TMC time delay info has remained improved with the V8 software.
I notice a couple of posts at the start of the thread but no comments since.

For me this has been the most disappointing (lack of) feature of my 920T.
downloaded a copy of V8 from the back door link a few days ago but still wondering whether to bite the bullet and install.

I am still running 7.221 with 710 maps (LMG expired 5 days before 715) as this all works fine for me , apart from the traffic delay info which makes the re routing for delay useless. very grateful to have been saved a 7.481 disaster by this forum too.

Really interested to know if they have finally fixed it.
Thanks

Paul

You will notice a very big change when using Navcore 8 and the RDS-TMC device, it actually works and you will be asked to avoid delays even being given the option to shout Yes or No at the device via the speech recognition system to prompt or deny a re-route.

Well worth the upgrade for this alone, back up your device first so you can always revert back if you find other problems, but the Navcore 8,010 release works fine on my 720 with DS-TMC connected - Mike

Try a return to factory settings (in the preferences menu) and/or deleting the MapSettings.cfg file from the map folder (the system creates a new one when it re-boots).

That usually fixes it for me.

Unfortunately it made no difference, still no option for voice recognition! Sad
Back to v7 it would seem. Sad

Maybe I am alone, but the update to my 720 worked fine. Speech recognition worked, mapshare worked, PGPS Speed Cams still worked.

It's stupid to withdraw the Navcore 8 due to the Lane Guidance option being there --- it quite clearly states in the message if you try and activate Lane Guidance the the map you have is not compatible.

As for the compass - I never used it anyway as it was just a distraction.

I have just managed to get the ASR options back on my 720 by copying the file support_asr.dat from my backup of 7.221 to the ASR directory. All seems to be working fine now.

The only problem I get is that my 720 turns itself back on sometimes after a few minutes. Any ideas?

I have updated ONE 3rd Edition and 920T both to 8.010. I've not lost anything on the ONE.

The 920T RDS-TMC now seems to be working properly. Today around Bournemouth, A35, A31 roadworks it told me AND gave delays in minutes alongside the icon on the sidebar AND it changed with updates - variously 1 min, 8 mins, 6 mins, 19 mins. I EVEN BIT THE BULLET AND AGREED TO FOLLOW REROUTEING TO AVOID THE 19 MIN DELAY. Whilst I felt uncomfortable during the diversion (school run type traffic), I actually reached my destination at the revised ETA. Can't ask more than that, I suppose, but it goes against the grain. And I did use the speech feature to say yes/no to avoiding. I haven't tried the dialogue for nav instructions yet, but it used to work and I've no reason to suspect it won't - I'll give it a try if I remember, but I don't use it often because it's so limited.

The 920 still switches itself back on again. When I was eating lunch out on Saturday, I wondered why I had a warm feeling in my pocket - I knew it had been sitting in a hot windscreen, so I thought it would cool off, but it didn't and I found it on again.

I have NOT lost my POI warnings from connecting to Home.

The 920T hands free still crashes with the repeating stutter or whatever you describe it as. That loses my POI warnings and current route.

It is interesting as the file is not in my 7.481 backup but ASR did work. Suggests that TomTom have changed something so that the file is not needed in 7.481 but forgot to do the same thing for 8.010. All I need to do now is fix the random switching on and I will be a happy guy!

Aaah good pointer, thanks Les, sorted my ASR issue out nicely!
Didn't have the file to hand, so manually created it (googled).
Finally my 520T seems to be working well, inc traffic, turns on real fast too! Very Happy

Reply from TomTom re compass and car symbol for one:

I will pass along the message to our second line experts. Its not a guarantee that it will be on the next version, but the more people that request this, the more they will pay attention to this.
As for the car symbol, this is not a feature that the ONE range supports

So, please, anyone who misses the old compass contact TomTom.
Will Navcore 8 be withdrawn for the One because of the symbol question as with lane change for the 20 series?

Just as an amusing postscript to TomTom "pulling" the update of v8 for the Gox20's from Home...

I've just read on another forum that when someone emailed TomTom to complain about the crappy new compass etc, on his 720, TT replied by DENYING that NavCore 8 was, or had ever been available for the x20's...

Just brilliant TT..... Not Worthy Me Me Me First Stupid
