Hi All

I have now started to use PGPSW database as my TT subscription has run out. I'm amazed at how many mobile locations are in the database compared to TT. I have also loaded the Europe set as I often travel in Ireland. I have found a site called www.irishspeedtraps.com that offers a download of the speed traps in the Republic. Does anyone know of a method to convert the Garmin offering to the TT format? I'm running TT Nav 6 on an Orange SPV M700. Since installing the PGPSW database I have noticed that the map scrolling seems to have slowed down a bit and/or is a bit jerky? as the map scrolls. Is this down to the number of POI (speed zoned UK and Eur) plus a few other poi or the size of the Eu files.

Any help much appreciated.

Adam

Surely converting Garmin to TT format is breach of copyright?

Thanks for the replies - I'll have a look at the POI software.

Any thoughts on the map scolling issue?

Your idea of too many POIs is often the answer. Consider whether you need all the others, or whether you need to DISPLAY all the others on the map all the time.

Rather than use Enable, use Warn When Near.

It doesn't overload the CPU as much.

Do you need to see a lot of POIs when travelling?

POI Edit will certainly convert between the two formats.

But beware! The Irish Republic is one of the countries where it is ILLEGAL to have any sort of warnings about speed cameras. Even printed AA atlases on sale in Eire are not allowed to have camera positions marked.

I didn't know that!!! - the main reason for use in Ireland is the increasing number of cameras and the prospect of the whole speed camera issue going to a private contractor with only making money on the agenda! - Sounds familiar Rolling Eyes

Although it is illegal, I've seen it said on a number of forums that the Garda seem uninterested in actually enforcing this legislation. Indeed quite how they would do so is open for debate in itself.

Naturally I would recommend caution if you do use them but I wouldn't be too concerned.
