Observed tonight, new cameras in gantries, will try and get photo tomorrow.

They appear to be GATSO like, but have a white square as well as the normal flash window.

Another thing to note, when moving towards the gantry unlike the current GATSO's between A3 and M3 you cannot spot these new cameras as they sit behind the board indicating the speed you need to travel.

Could these be the new digital cameras........ !!

There was an article in one of the Hillingdon papers about 6 weeks or more ago.
They are installing new cameras on the M25 and also lowering the speed at which the cameras are activated.
I can't remember the details, I got them second hand and was going to check the paper myself but forgot.
Seem to remember a drop of 20% or 20mph in the speed at which camera is activated.

Hope someone has more info on this. I have been slowing well down since, I must admit. Something to do with a commission or agency setting new parameters.

I do J11 to J15 every work day (both ways)

I've not spotted anything new but then I've not been looking.

Thanks for the info.

We've been discussing that at length and there doesn't seem to have been any conclusive evidence about them.
It was always that "everyone seemed to know someone who knew someone whose brother in law was a copper and he said...."

we have had these stories in the papers before and it has turned out to be complete fiction.

We need specific reports of exact positions of potential new cameras and then several verifications, preferably with radar detectors as well as eyeballs.

Good call Very Happy

I scoured all the anti-clockwise gantries from J11 to J15 on my way home yesterday evening.

There are definately some new cameras, quite easy to see, they are hanging outside of the black metalwork ready to pounce but you won't see them on the direction they are intended to serve until you look in your rearview mirror.

I only saw one set of cameras on one gantry between J14 and J13. It will need someone with a device to accurately pinpoint the location. I'll try and do it via mileage this evening now I know where they are.

This morning I will scour the clockwise direction on my way into work.

watch this space......

edit..........

Clockwise:

One set immediately before J15 and another set between J14 and J13 on a different gantry to the anti-clockwise set.

Can understand what you say. However I've had my thinking cap on.
It was a mate of mine who lives in Hillingdon, and he told me he had read it.
Now he is on holiday with family. I will pester him when he gets back to let me know and I will post it back here.
Like you say, there is always rumour. However, I have been paying more attention to my speed, and I don't suppose there is anything wrong with that if it keeps drivers more alert.

I've got no idea what the present activation speeds are, but common sense suggests they are going to be set to something around what tghe signs are saying.

Sorry guys haven't been in enough traffic to take actual photos of the cameras and also my pda hasn't got the poi capture on just yet as i'm running TT6.

The cameras are not on all gantries but probably 300yards or the first gantry before the next junction. Cameras also appear on both sides of the same gantrys, so if its on one side it will be on the other, apart from one gantry just before jnt 13 anti-clockwise which is a gantry on its own.

they have definately only put them up in the last few days, so don't even know if they are active yet.

I will try and get POI Capture working and upload the positions

cheers

I've been having a dig around and these new cameras look quite similar to the HADECS cameras on the M42:

A new set have gone up in the last 24hrs.

Clockwise - the first gantry after the M3 (Junction 12) and Anti-Clockwise the same gantry immediately prior to the M3.

can anyone confirm 100% (or even 98%) that these are speed cameras? been getting quite a few submissions for them but not sure what to do with them yet - don't want to have another M42 debacle - empty boxes...!

I'm not sure how I would be able to confirm that ?

They have been appearing daily and I have tried to snap them but my lowly phone camera is not up to the job and difficult when driving.

I suppose only time will tell if someone gets a NIP !

I'll hold off posting any more sightings until we know one way or the other. I think the message that M25 J12 to J16 is now well covered in both directions should be sufficient.
