only just seen this thread.

Do you still want an early novus update? I have a copy of the 7113 they put up advertsied as the lite upgrade before new talex stepped in with lawyers, so I presume this was the original talex database from just before they went bust, and must differ from the present 8023?

That's a point

I've still got that one (20/11/2007) and I could easily put up a download link to it if you PM me.

Thanks, thats been very useful Smile

Just figured out how to get my own 'version number' to flash upon starting the talex and in the process knocked off another 4 bytes from the 'unkown' list in the header. I'm slowly but surely making progress Smile

Any other versions greatly appreciated!

There is a new RedSpeed outside my office (reported here) that has now been in existence about 10 days.

8033 certainly doesn't have it. It will be interesting to see if/when it does appear on the Talex database (or not).

This is my own check as to whether they are as actually 'on the ball' as they reckon.

Thanks for the heads up Smile

Novus have got their files mixed up... the delta download is actually the Rider update and the rider download is actually the delta update :p

And the actual delta update is at version 8034.

Anyway, here's what I've got so far:

Top image is the PGPSW data, second is the talex data for when your on a road with a camera on and the bottom image is when your joining a road with a camera on. The nice round red points are the actual talex points and my scribbled on red points are where the PGPSW points are, just so you can make a comparsion easily.

Each point comes with some extra data, most importantly bearing. So you can imagine the talex doing a small radius and bearing check to see if your near one of the above points and alert with the according speed.

Obviously the problem is that PGPSW data doesn't come like this. I reckon you could do away with adding any extra points for joining onto roads (as this would be a major effort to put all the points in) and just use the 'on route' function. This would still require going through the PGPSW database and adding points either side of each camera with the correct bearing. Again, with ~10000 cameras in the database this is quite an effort.

If you were of the clever persuasion you could write a program that would take each point from the PGPSW database, 'drive' each way up the road (obviously requiring a complete road map database) 500 yards and record the correct long, lat and bearing. Hell I guess you could even write a program to check for junctions along the way. Whilst possible, I think this is probably beyond me.

We already have direction data in our database.

as mentioned previously, the easiest way to see the heading data we do have is either to download the MIO MTC database or the CoPilot 7 database.
