Yes I'm the one still using the DS and ugrading it every month. I use it in conjunction with a 910 but have noticed especially in the East London/Essex area a lot of the directions for the camera are giving false alarms. I have looked at the data for the cameras and the Tomtom but they seem to be in different formats. Can you explain what is what and I can do some editing of the ones in my area myself then feed it back to you if you want it. (or am I the only one)

What does the 910 show at the same location?

you will need to open up the DS 'csv' file in notepad as ti is not a true CSv. DS uses what i call scsv (semi-colon separated values) so excel etc will not open it correctly as a comma is used as a decimal point...

open up the ov2 file in something like poi edit then match up the coords so you can get the id number.

an easier way would be to locate the cameras on the google map and resubmit correct heading data!

OK The problem hear is that most of the cameras do have headings in the OV2 file but not in the DS. As a for instance GATSO 889@50 Heading 80 Single Direction. The DS always picks this up when going in the opposite direction. I can't quite work out how to find it in the DS file as it does not use camera nos. If I put the cross hairs ove it on the map I get a reading of 51.61477225871961 and -0.07143259048461914. How are these refs. interpretted in the DS data? I did a search for 51614 in Excel with no result. I did 61477;51 with no result also 61477 brings no result. I know you said to open with notepad but there is no search facility with that. So how do I find the camera in question.

i can assure you that no heading data is in the ov2 files. tomtom cannot use them so there is no point wasting space with unusable data.

it would be 51,61477 assuming that is the exact / correct location!

as mentioned before, excel will not display the DS 'csv' file correctly as it is semi-colon separated and NOT comma separated. a decimal point is replaced with a comma so excel splits the file at this point.

open it in notepad and press CTRL+F which will then search.

best bet is to search for the first 2-3 decimal places then just keep going until you get a match for both lat / lon. i.e. for that example search for '51,61' then if the coords are not exactly correct from the maps then the last few decimal points won't affect the search.

unfortunately there is no space in the DS file to add any identifiers such as camer id etc like you can in other systems. iGo also suffers the same 'problem'

me again,

this line: -0,07142;51,61478;50;1;1;80

relates to Gatso 889

longitude; latitude; speed value; mph; camera type; heading

maybe it would be better at 85 for heading? i've no idea how accurate the heading value needs to be, i know the range for mio satnav is 25 degrees either way - no idea on the DS though.

Thanks for the info. The ov2 file thing was an assumption on my part. I just assumed that because the data was there it would be included. I have checked 5 of the cameras in my area only to find that only 1 (GATSO 2043) has a heading of 0. Does this mean that it is North or unclassified? I estimate from the Google map a heading of about 22 would be right. The others prove to be a bit of a mystery as they all have headings included. You state on the last part of your message that the ;1;1; is the camera type. Would this denote whether it is reversible or single direction as this is the only other possiblity that I can think of. The Delta angle on the DS is variable I have mine set to about 10deg.

the '1;1;' part is mph;camera type.

if it was 0;1; it would be kph;gatso

0;9; = kph mobile
1;9; = mph mobile

there is no setting in the DS csv data for single direction or reversible.

I don't understand why I am picking up the cameras for the opposite direction. If the camera is reversible does this mean it would have two entries with different headings?

if it is a dual carriageway which, on the map, shows as two separate roads then yes there would be 2 entries.

can you give specific examples of the cameras causing these issues? if you can find them on the google map and post their id numbers i can take a look.

Here are a couple for you to look at. Both of these face East but activate the DS when travelling West. GAT 889 & GAT 419.

that's an odd one... the database definately has it as heading 80...

can you try changing this line: -0,07142;51,61478;50;1;1;80

to -0,07142;51,61478;50;1;1;080

to see if the DS needs a 3-figure heading value?

as for 419, there is a 2nd gatso here on the other carriage way - do you get 2 warnings or just one? if it's just one then that's correct if theres 2 warnings then there's something weird again

Me Again. The plot thickens with this one! I have deleted 419 & 889 from my database however I am still getting the alerts from these two cameras going in the opposite direction. When I return through them the DS does not light up (as you would expect). I have tried the 3 figures that you suggested but this does not seem to have any effect.
One of the other alerts that I get is on the A406 near the start of the M11. There are two cameras here (Monitron 17732 & 17733) however lerking underneath them on the map is the old Gatso 17655 which is no longer there. Doesn't explain the alert though as all of them have headings.

so, you've deleted the data yet you still get alerted on the DS? are you sure you don't also have the DS database installed too?

Now that's a thought. How would I know and how can I remove it if it is there?
