Hi,

I have a 910 that stopped charging the battery, it wne tback to tomtom for a repair.

They changed the motherboard and upgraded the OS to 7.5XX, all was fine except the TMC reciever.

They sent me a brand new X.013 version but it still didnt work.
They sent me a brand new dock for the screen, (Waited 4 weeks) still dod not work.

Under their advice I have upgraded and down graded the software more times than i can remember but still no joy.

The last straw was to format the drive and reinstall, this sent the unit crazy, turning itself on and off at random. Would except new destinations, light sensor wouldnt work, Map errors etc...

Sent it back to tomtom for repair again with the TMC, it cam e back yesterday still doesnt work. Spent two hours on the phone with their techy help and now I have unit that wont get past the boot up!!!!

They now want me to send it to the netherlands!

Anyone got any comments/ suggestions

Rolling Eyes

Cheers

Mike

If you sent both the unit and the TMC reciever to TT then i find it hard for even TT to send you back a faulty unit deliberatly. Did they tell you it was repaired hence the reason they sent it back to you or have they given you an explination other than send it to the Netherlands.

Make sure you have it in writing with TomTom that you should send back the 910, the RDS-TMC and the car dock mount as it could be anyone of these parts causing the fault, just sending back bits on there own might not enable them to recreate the fault - Mike

They asked me to send back all of the bits for the last repair including the TMC and yep it all came back " no fault found" reflashed OS and TMC not working.

Now going to Netherlands for their "TOP" engineers to fix. This saga has been ongoing since November 14th.

Not cool

But did you send back the car mount as well? - this part connects the RDS to the TomTom so it could be damaged causing the fault - Mike

Well if the ipod works through it i would think that the RDS-TMC reciever is the fault unless it could be a software fault for the reciever and the software for the ipod is ok. I think it is the reciever though.

i'll let you all know when we have the answer.

Ian,

its the second tmc not to work, so its probably not the hardware.

Just read another thread that got me to wonder...

Does the replacement 910 have the same device code as the original? Is the TMC tied to the device code in any way?

TMC coverage in the US is so sparse that I haven't got any experience with it, so my apologies if this is way off the mark.

The TMC antenna is not tied to the device in any way as far as the licence is concerned.

Ok heres the update, Sent it back to the netherlands, finally recieved it back yesterday morning with a letter in dutch.

They have reinstalled the application (old) 6.5XX They have replaced the TMC (For the second time!!!) and yes you have guessed it.

It STILL doesnt work.... (TMC)

I did write TOMTOMs MD whilst the repair was going on and a Valerie wrote to me saying she would call me today at 10am to discuss my case, Still no phone call Sad

They are without doubt completely useless.

It will now be a job for my solicitor I am afraid. Poor show tomtom!!

Remind me, what exactly is not working? Does the unit detect the TMC receiver when connected?

So it DOES detect the TMC receiver or DOESN'T?
