Any help however minor would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Although not specific to the 510 there is s warning on the download page about the number of POIs you load and the unit not starting.

Will POILoader recognise it? If you have the latest version you maybe able to delete them with POILoader.

Does the unit have a card? If so, can you get it into a card reader and delete the file poi.gpi?

You can try resetting the user data. This may work. It says it deletes all user information but on my i3 it doesn't touch the POIs....

1. Hold your finger on the lower right corner of the screen.

2. Switch on 510

3. Hold finger down until pop up window appears.

4. Click Yes.

Unfortunatly POI loader wont recognise it nor does it have a card just a slot for one, all data is embedded to on board memory.

Switching the device on with my finger on the bottom right of the screen does indeed bring up the option to clear user data but device wont stay on long enough for the system to execute the command.

P.S. all the help is greatly appreciated. Wink

Is this unit still under warranty?. There's a faint possibility of fixing it with an edited firmware on an SD card...with a strong possibility of making it worse...

Hi Phil...Thaks for the reply.

Yes...it's only a week old! Where do I source/How do I do the fix with an edited firmware?

I really don't relish the thoughts of it becoming a paperweight!

Thanks
Raymond.

Exclamation In that case, don't even think about it - this firmware would have to be 'constructed'...

... ring Garmin on Monday and you might have a replacement by Friday, with a following wind (or take it back to whereever you bought it, of course).

Remeber if you send it back don't let Garmin try and tell you the POIs broke the unit. The problem is a limitation in the number of POIs the unit can handle. If you read the warnings on the PGPSW POI downlaod page you'll see more recent models have had the restriction fixed with firmware updates.

Had this exact problem! Only had the unit two days and used it once!

I'm returning it and getting a Nuvi 250 instead - latest firmware for that model may have fixed this problem.

Very shoddy of Garmin IMHO.... there should be a way for a user to re-install the firmware without sending it back!
