Hi there I have loads of POI's downloaded but is there any way I can make them into a Single file like on my TomTom 720 it has a POI file but its a DAT Format FILE if I delete it and make my own DAT file will it work with all my OWN POI's because the POI's in the tomtom 720 are RUBBISH NO Supermarkets (try finding Asda) , Not all the Cinema's (Cineworld Cinema's) etc ....

Slow down a bit and consider. The TomTom POIs are rubbish, everybody knows that, so wise folk use the POIs downloaded from PocketGPSWorld (there are others too).

These work as Third Party Custom POIs, in separate files, not in the TT POI dat or whatever format. You simply load the POI .OV2 files and their corresponding .BMP files into the map folder on your TomTom and Bob's yer Uncle. It could be quite a poor idea to bunch them all into one file and I'm sure that was only when you were thinking of replacing the TT dat file. If you use the PGPSW POIs, you can easily disable the TomTom ones by deselecting them from displaying on the map. Take note that there are limits as to the number of different POI categories you can have (about 300 now on the 720, I believe). So if you're a POI addict, it may be a poor idea to have separate categories for, say ASDA, TESCO, Sainsbury's, Esso, Shell, BP, MacDonalds, Burger King, KFC. You could have these as three categories (Supermarkets, Petrol Stations and Fast Food) instead of nine.

I am assuming you are wanting to download the Supermarkets from PGPSW?

If you really want, there are some other things you can do...

1. You can combine sub-categories when you download from here (as you've just found)

2. You can combine any ov2 POI files you like using a free program called POI Edit (http://www.poiedit.com/).
Simply "open" the first file, then "append" the others, and finally "save as" with a new name.

3. There is a way to merge your own POI files with the built in ones from poi.dat. See the last post in THIS TOPIC for details.
