Nowthen,

After getting a TT Go 520 for my wife I thought I would back everything up and update it via Home last night. It now freezes on the red cross image on start up and after reading FAQ and searching for this common fault I pressed the reset (with it off and on) for 3, 10, 25, 30, 60secs 2 mins to no avail.

Any suggestions as its her Xmas pressie! Crying or Very sad

Do you have a backup of the device?

That's a good start then! If you connect to your PC, does the GO appear as a disk on your desktop?

Will try tonite when on home PC. Bit dissapointed after spending £200 on it in crashing instantly... Sad

A restore ought to fixe it, if not you might be able to get it exchanged if you have not had it long?

I can understand how you'd be disappointed but it's rare for this to happen.

Ok, lets hope so, I got it from Halfrauds so should be able to get a return.

Any tips on restoring, should I do it using Home?

Was the backup taken using HOME? Ideally I'd just copy the files across manually and leave HOME out of it. But if you used HOME to make the backup you may be happier trying a restore that way.

No I just used windows explorer coppied all files and folders.

To do the restrore by explorer do I just delete the tt files n folders and then copy the old ones back?

I hope it is recognised when I connect it to my PC. If not where does that leave me?

If it isn't recognised than it's back to Halfords for exchange.

If it is recognised (and I'm sure it will be), then just copy the backup files onto the GO and overwrite the existing files. Undock and reboot.

I hope you get it working because Halfords are a nightmare to deal with. They told me that they do not exchange any units as the one you bought will have to be sent for checking and re-pair if required. I cant remember what was wrong with my TT but i only had it 4 days and luckily i fixed it through TT Home. I was very dissapointed as they dont tell you this when you buy the product.

Thanks god for FAQs...

After attaching to PC, home recognised it, as did windows explorer. Home said it needed an update so tried updating again and then disconnecting. Same problem - red cross screen of death. So did a full restore as per Darren and it starts fine and all seems to be well.

However, what do I do now? Risk another Home update?
