Just got off the phone with TT UK (45mins), about the cards for the 720T.

They say (after he talked to 2nd line service) that the 720 WILL NOT take the newer SDHC Cards at all.

But an update in the future MAY put this right.

The TT Go 720 will take MMC Cards upto 4 Gig, and standard SD Cards upto 8 Gig.

The TT Gc500 will take MMC cards uptp 4 Gig, and Standard SD Cards upto 4 Gig.

I have yet to see a Standard SD that is 4 Gigs and above that IS NOT an SCHC version!!!!.

Anybody want to buy a New Unused only formatted and incerted into a TT Go720T once Peak 8 Gig SDHC Card????. Embarassed

Welcome to the wonderful world of TT customer support!

From your posts today, you've asked them about three issues, and got pretty dodgy information (if not simply wrong) about all of them.

In reverse order:

There are plenty of people using SDHC cards in their 720's and 520's

The v710 maps ARE being sold on their website.

...and the maps are nowhere near 50% off using ANY averaging method they might think of.

The forums are riddled with examples of so-called "information" from TT that means nothing.

If you go to the search page, type "SDHC" (without the quotes) and set it to search just the TomTom part of the forum, you get 30 results (including this one).
Have a look through those. The first one I looked at had Mike Alder saying
Quote:
have an 8GB SDHC fitted in my 720 which works fine,

Edit: But he ALSO says that at the beginning of THIS topic! And we also say ONLY the 520 and 720 and presumably the 920 too. Why are you asking again?

'Couse my 8Gig SDHC does not work fine in my 720, only sees it as 3.65 gig, even when full no more can be used or shows up.

I have looked and it gives the following information on the TomTom web site.

What memory cards are available?

SD Card
TomTom GO/ONE/RIDER
TomTom NAVIGATOR 6
TomTom NAVIGATOR 5

Mini-SD Card
TomTom NAVIGATOR 6
TomTom MOBILE 5

SDHC Card
not supported

The maximum size is not mentioned, so keeping away from the High Capacity cards you will easily get a 4GB card.

Well my 720 is quite happy using its Peak 8GB SDHC card so I have no idea why yours won't work unless the card itself is faulty? - Mike

The TT Gc500 will take MMC cards uptp 4 Gig, and Standard SD Cards upto 4 Gig. Well that's what TT UK 2nd line support told me the other day on the phone.

As said before I use SanDisk Ultra II 4GB SDHC card with no problems on my GO720T. This is the real life. Razz

For Plank and Wazza_G and any other doubters...
I refer you to a chart I just found on the TT website,
which confirms (as we said Wink) that SDHC cards ARE usable in the x20 models....
http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?Language=1&query=SDHC&FID=2634

(It also says that MMC cards are NOT usable in a Go 500, unlike what Plank's man said).

Thanks Andy. Thumbs Up

BTW, would it be possible to get together a definitive list of cards that are & are not compatible with the x10, x20, XL & One series units, so we as end users can make informed choices.

It's been attempted several times on the various forums...
I'm sure there was one here, but it doesn't seem to have been made a "sticky" topic so has disappeared down the list. A search might find it...
Otherwise, here is one on yourNAV: http://www.yournav.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=588

The problem is that both SD cards and TT models are changing all the time...
