Ah yes, missed that
If it is of a vehicle you own, take a picture from the rear and above (I take mine from a first floor window), ideally you need an angle like this:
Once you have it, email it to me. I can then produce a cursor for you from the image. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Yes! But with an 80x80 pixel image of a car will you be able to tell if it accually is an SRi DTi or just some other run of the mill Diesel Vectra. HMMM! _________________ Dom

I will attempt to take a picture this weekend if the weather improves. You guys are doing a sterling job with the other vehicles I have seen. _________________ TomTom Go720 v8.320

I would also like to know in which program I can make custom cursors myself. Maybe somebody can give me the link where I can download this program. And give me some explanation how to get started.
Greetz. |
Any "Paint" type of program on your computer should be able to make one...
The better the program the easier it is though.
You already have Microsoft "Paint" on your computer if you have a Windows PC, look under "Accessories" in the Start menu. That is about the most limited program there is but it can still make a cursor.
I don't know any particular free ones to download but there must be loads out there. PaintShop Pro is very good but that isn't free any more. I use Corel PhotoPaint, and the best is Photoshop, but that can cost a LOT!
The cursors need to be 80x80 pixels in size 24-bit colour and saved in .bmp format.
The simplest way to get the hang of it and to find where the relevant settings are in whatever program you end up using, is to open one of the cursors that someone has already made, and see how it is put together.
When you come to make your own, you will need to copy and paste or "import" your chosen picture and "re-size" it to fit into the 80x80 box.
The red you see is "full red" (colour code Red 255, Green 0, Blue 0) but it turns transparent on screen, and to aid in visibility it's advised to have a 1 pixel white border around your image.
It's difficult to be more specific, as all the "Paint" programs will have the various tools in different places and settings in different menus. |

If I might add just a couple more tips to what Andy has said ..
1. It is better to use a pencil or pen tool to amend colours - using the paintpot filler doesn't give a sharp edge.
2. I always zoom in very close so that I can see the pixels I'm changing when I do the white edge. I suppose the clever people who do good cursors for you are very good with steady hands for moving the painting cursor. I don't try to do too much with the cursor on continuous selecting, because when I slip a little and alter a few pixels by mistake, the Undo can get back to where it was, without losing too much successful work. _________________ Dennis

Hy,
Thanks for your response. I have tried it out and I have been able to create my own custom cursor.
Thanks for the help.

Consider sending the cursors you have made to darren and he will add them to the collection on the web site. _________________ Dom

Found this site while searching for icons for my new TT720, and found several I loved, thanks!
I have also made some of my own now, and Karma being what it is, thought I'd share them here.
Firstly, I have to give credit to Sci-Fi 3D, where I got the meshes, and of course Autodesk for having a trial version of 3D Studio Max available.
Not being too much of a car-guy (except for the RSC concept) , I slapped together some sci-fi icons, enjoy!
Code: | RSC Viper Klingon
Star Destroyer Snow Speeder |
Save As... .BMP of course. |

Excellent!
I'm using a Dalek on my Go at the moment (I'm not normally a "customiser at all - having compiled all the speed cam ogg files I still use the old "Polite 2" sound myself!), and I wondered why there weren't more sci-fi cursors yet. |

That's because the request is always the same "My car is... ...please can you make me one. thanxxxx"
So untill someone comes along who's chosen mode of transport is say an alien mothership, we'll just have to do with cars.
Excellent collection there grendelprime. Well done. _________________ Dom

Just use Windows own Paint prog and do it a pixel at a time, its quite easy if you have a better program though, if you have not got one pm me I will see what I can do for you.
