Looks like a glitch on their site then as whilst the prices differ the Part No's don't! I'll contact the owner and ask him! _________________ Darren Griffin |

Having installed the active holder for the 720 in a Renault Laguna as the "clip" fixes into to vent it does make the 720 GPS reception a bit weak in comparison to the passive windscreen mount position - with no signal at all in built up areas.
The audio from the "Line Out" suffers from a high pitched whine from the 720's internal power inverter (charging or not) when used with the active mount (or with the supplied TomTom charger). Lifting the 720 off of the mini usb connector until power is removed whilst still being secured by the usb guides and the rear main clip stops the whine.
Next I need to get a "left hand" clip - as the "right hand" clip makes the 720 mount a bit too close to the light/direction stick. |

Your audio problem will be cured by fitting a "Ground Loop Issolation device" between the TomTom audio output and the cars stereo, one of These should sort out your problem, have you tried the FM out on the 720 though as this is very good, although this can depend upon where you live, if you use the FM output the noise will disapear as you have no direct connection between the TT and stereo - Mike |

Brodit have just contacted me to say the version with a clamp for the TMC antenna has now been designed and a sample is on its way to me.

I would like to get a brodit dock for my TomTom 520 with TMC connection.
Do Brodit do one that has no wires just ports for TomTom cables to plug into. Also is there a one that clips onto the TomTom 520 sucker mount. I think this would be a cheap unit to make as it would not need cables or dashboard clip. |

Great review
Out of interest which move clip works best with this mount - the large one (213006) or the mini one (213005)?
Though I'm not a fan of the curly cable using the move clip is a nice solution, and at least means it'll only be there when I'm using the TomTom, rather than all the time. Just can't justify the extra cost for the fixed version + install. |

I've always used #213005 and never had an issue. The 3M adhesive is more than capable of supporting a SatNav. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Yes, they do a non-active one that has no power or any cables at all, just the cradle itself. Their isn't one that mates to TomTom's sucker mount. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Darren wrote: | It might also be possible to butcher an existing mini-USB charge cable with a straight lead if you wished but I understand that is not a practical solution. The fitted cable uses a shielded mini-USB plug that does not have a moulded 'boot' over it. You would need to shave off the moulded surround of an existing cable to get it to fit! Indeed I may just have a go at that as a straight cable would be a tidier solution for me too |
I had an old USB 12v straight charge cable. 5mins with a stanley knife and the rubber moulding was removed which allowed it to fit into the Brodit cradle.
So now I have an x20 cradle with a straight lead rather than the curly one supplied. Nice and simple. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Did they mention if they are going to make a hard-wired version? I'd rather have a clean install and don't want the cigarette lighter plug in there all the time. |

A hard wired version with the TMC bit? I will ask although I would imagine they will.
Even if they don't it's simple to have a concealed install, just have a cigarette socket wired behind the dash and plug into that. That is what I have always done. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Is it possible to add the TMC mount to the existing units, its a little disappointing if early customers loose out. Hopefully they maybe able to provide the extra mount, or maybe theres a upgrade offer? |
