Long time no post.

Any other CoPilot 4 users getting that nasty salty, bitter taste in their mouths. I know I am. I hate to think how much I have spent with ALK over the last 4 years. The latest v4 'promised' Live Traffic Info (aka LiveWire or TomTom 3 from May) and yet, after another couple a hundred quid and months waiting, nothing.

Oh, except the news that the Yanks get and update and we dont.

Oh and the further news that the attempt at keeping the above promsie is going to be inlcuded in the 'next major update' which I am sure is 12 months off and will cost me another £100+ if I want to get it.

Well no. TomTom3 here I come. I dont care how good CP5 is when it comes out, I dont care it it cuts my driving time in half by making my car shift in to a state that allows it to pass through other cars! TomTom at least keep up with regular updates, dont promise in their advertisements and web sites that a major feature will be included shortly and then remove all instances of it.

Sorry to those that read this and think 'Ahh, look at the English nut case go...'

I have been testing CP4 for my company, with the view of buying a good number of licenses. As things stand I could not recommend it. The programme is not as configurable as it should be, it does not make importing addiitonal data e.g. :POIs easy, and it has not implemented the traffic update service which is in the manual.

What is most disappointing is that ALK provide no information that I am aware of on what they are working on, and when we are likely to see it. At least that way we would see a "road map" ahead of us.

I plan to order TT3 and try it instead. It wiull be interesting to compare.

Thats the same feeling I've got.

I've had CP4 for a while, and it now looks dated compared to the others out there.

I was also looking forward to getting traffic intergrated with it and theres no sign of that happening at all.

TomTom3 here we come!

The main reason behind not going to 4.5 in the UK is because version 4 was much further ahead than the previous version stateside. US have now gone 4.5. 4.5 is available in the UK but it has very minor bug fixes, nothing major and is now being shipped with all new hardware. I think (not sure) tha the 4.5 fixes mainly hardware issues and a few bug fixes.

Version 5 will be the next thing to look forward to for CoPilot users and although I cannot give any dates *officially* all I can say is watch this space. I can't unfortunately say anymore than that, and what bugs it fixes or what new features it includes.

The way ALK allow importing of POI's unfortunately will not change. You will see in future versions more custom fields but the lengthly import process is here to stay unfortunately. I have expressed my views over this and although the process gives great scope to import nearly anything it does make it rather difficult for the average user.

I do not think that 4.5 is available in UK. In discussions in the last couple of days with ALK support I was told that 4.5 does not exist - sounded quite touchy about it. There is a patch to 4.04.105 which has some bug fixes. It was that which I mistakenly called 4.5.

Unless 5.0 comes soon, and as a free upgrade to recent registrations, then I would not be very happy. As referred to before, features in advertising and manual are not implemented, and we have no official information about what is being developed or when.

Last I heard from my contacts at ALK is that 4.5 is shipping in the UK in new purchases, it doesn't have any extra's for 4.0 users, and this is the reason why the 4.5 update isn't being released to current 4.0 customers. AFAIK it's just a few minor bug fixes that help the way it works with the bundled hardware and to open up a few more custom fields.

4.0 customers won't be able to upgrade to 4.5 because there really is no advantage of doing so. Several people on this forum had said they had recently purchased 4.5.

I can't comment on how soon 5 will be available, but I can say now it won't be a free upgrade. Not even TomTom manage to do a free upgrade. It would put any company out of business if they offered free software.

If you're still harping on about traffic, from what I can recall you have the iNS3 ? This is bundled by TeamWarrior and they do offer a traffic news service trial of 30 days with iNS (and for permanent use as an upgrade). If you are referring to traffic still as not coming with CoPilot then you may want to check the TeamWarrior site out.

I've recently come back from a triip into London and have found that lots of errors in the mapping data mainly telling me to turn left or right where there is a no left or no right turn. It caused me to have to go round in circles and find my own way out on many occasions. (I've got the INS3 from Team Warrior whom'd i've just come off the phone to asking about updated maps and got told nothing at all plus their usual talk to HP about your problems) So i've decided I've had enough with Team Warrio and, Pocket Co Pilot (And arguments between both parties causing the traffic integration to be taking out of INS3 when it was in INS2) I've now decided to dump them and go the TomTom route. Enough is enough, I've have a couple of friends who have tried both and have both changed from INS3 to TomTom and said they get on much better with it.
