Last night I connected to TomTom Home and it gave me 2 updates. 1. for GPS and the other for the new 7.0 version for the TT One XL, I accepted the downloads and installed. When I start my TomTom One XL I cannot get past the SPLASH SCREEN (it seem to lock up) I have tried resetting to no avail. Please, has anyone any ideas?

Is your device a European one or Regional? and do you have a back up from when it used to work? if so I would format the device and re-install the back up.

Get the device working then use Windows Explorer to install the update to the unit, locate the file TomTom Home downloaded and unpack it using Win Rar, then copy the folders and files to the device, I find this method is more trustworthy - Mike

Many thanks for quick reply. Yes, I have the original One XL SD Card safe. Is there a method of downloading the updated software from TomTom. My Device is the Regional UK One. If possible could you please give me instructions?

What does the device do if you put the original card into it and boot it up, does it work or still fail with the red cross on the screen? - Mike

With reference to NOT getting past the Splash Screen (see posts above), I got a a newKingston 1 Gb Card copied my orginal TT One XL card onto it connected to the computer and it said I had an update to the TT application, went through the procedure and yet AGAIN on restart it did NOT get past the Splash Screen. Oh and the card worked when I copies my orginalTT Card onto it.

Delete the TomTom Home download which contains the update from your PC, put the old version on the card and boot the device.
Connect it to the PC and let Home download a fresh copy of the newer software version, it could be your download is corrupt.

To locate where the TomTom Home package has stored the update start TomTom Home and click Preferences/ Folder Preferences the folder location is contained in the Downloads dialogue box, use Windows Explrer to locate the folder identified above and remove the latest update file "navcore 7.12.xxxxxx" - Mike

I split this from the original thread as it was becoming "lost" within the saga of POI updates on version 7 devices!!! - Mike

Duffer,

You say you bought a new 1GB Sd card. What 'speed' is it?
Question
It could be that the card is too slow for the TT. I'm sure I've read this in the forums somewhere before.

Just a thought..

Regards,

Trevor

Colin, Please have a read of the FAQ page which can be found Here Look at #1 and #8 for specific information relating to your issue, the card could be too slow, but then again have you had the Show Hidden Files option checked in Windows Explorer? - Mike
