If you have XP go to Start - All Programs - Accessories and you should find Windows Movie Maker hiding there.

Have a look HERE for loads of freebies.

Look towards the botttom of the page XP Freeware - Video. It has the latest version of MS Moviemaker and another Jahshaka. I haven't tried this one but it may do what you want.

Camcorder is jvc GR-D73 mini DV

You don't have the appropriate Codec for the file type you importing....

Apparently the fix is to either convert the file to another format or "go into Tools, Options, Compatibility and uncheck all but MPEG-2 splitter pixila. "

Might be better to find a dedicated video forum too...
