I have seen advertisements which claim it does, but I cannot find any functionality on mine.

I have to say it really needs one, and I cannot understand why one would be omitted.

Owners manual - CLICK HERE

Page 23 mentions something called the Travel Kit. Is it there?

It also mentions purchasing accessories too...

Why does a navigation device need an alarm? It's for getting you from A to B, not a clock or PDA!

I don't believe it has an alarm, there's nothing in the manual about it, and Garmin don't mention anything on their website. Any other website cannot be guaranteed to be accurate.

But that's not true- the Nuvi is billed as a "Portable Travel Assistant".
It has other functions such as currency converter, travel guides, calculator etc

An alarm would seem a very sensible and obvious addition

There isn't an alarm but there is Garmin Lock. A pincode lock where you need to enter a four digit code before you can use the nuvi. Could that be what you're thinking about?

I don't think so. As has been stated before and in the OP some websites are advertising a Travel Alarm is included.

I have a Nuvi 610 which as part of the Travel Kit, has a World Clock. This displays the time in different cities around the world. Perhaps this is what is being referred to as the alarm. Although the World Clock does not have an alarm you can set.

I think the alarm part was either a rumor or typo or misunderstanding. I can't see any evidence of an alarm from the manual or anyone else.

I have to agree with you. A real shame though as I am sure it would be easy to implement and would be a really useful feature on a "Travel Companion".
