Hi Guys,
Sorry to be dull but your dealing with a complete novice here
on the link that is given for the safety camera download

HERE

It is worded like there are 2 options, 1 is via the ALK Technologies website and the other, further down, by the PocketGPDWorld site.
The first is free, the second, even though it says is free, is only free with a subscription Question Therefore not free Question
I don't mind paying, I just wanna make sure I'm reading it right Question

If I try via the ALK Tech web page then I'm getting an error saying:
make sure device is on
Make sure your device is connected via active sync
Make sure application isn't currently running
and then it says to press any key to continue, which I do and the c dialog box disappears

Would this be connected to when I upgraded the Pocket PC 6 version to the latest one v6.0.4.110
as now when I open CoPilot it says that files files are in use and to close other programmes using these files and try again, If I hit retry, nothing, if I hit cancel then she fires up

Help

Once you get your device working properly from this thread here http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=58207&highlight=
then download the database from this site, and then have a read of this thread

The database from here is £19 a year, or £2 for a month, both will allow you to download any databases as many times as you like (whilst your subscription is active). It's free to join the website, but it's £2 a month, or £19 a year to join the members area, and thats where the download page is, so yes, the downloads are free once you have joined the members area, if that makes sence. As far as ALK Technologies, you will have to ask them what the free updates are all about, they either have an agreement with this site, or they are trying to drum up buissnes by telling "porkies" about free updates, aspecially as the links don't work.

Well I have now got the latest version of CoPilot so I have joined up and downloaded the speed camera database as per instructions but its not working.
It downloaded and I have copied accross files:

need help - internet page
licence - notepad
release - notepad
pocketgps_uk_pmobile bmp image
pocketgps_uk_sc bmp file
pocketgps_uk_pmobile.ov2
pocketgps_uk_sc.ov2

When I started CoPilot there was no wait, straight in as per normal and after activating all settings for POI's they still don't shop up Question

Do I have to rename any of the files to a new name, as in the instructions it says to do so but doesn't say which ones.... Question

help !!

Hi, I don't know much about your system, but you don't need the

Need help
Licence
release

They are just for your information.

The pocket_gps_sc bmp is the icon on the screen
The pocket_gps_sc.ov2 is the actual database
So these two files would be the ones that you would need to change the name of.
The two pmobile files are the icon and the database for the unconfirmed mobile cameras. To make things easy for you, just re-name and transfer the two pocket_gps_sc bmp and pocket_gps_sc.ov2 files, and see if it works, you may have to enable the camera POi's, like I said I'm not too sure about your system, but I'm sure someone will be along soon to help if I have it wrong.

Hi

Copy the bmp and ov2 files (both lots if you want the unverified pmobiles as well) over to COPILOT / SAVE directory on your card, delete all files beginning with ao*.* in that directory. Restart CoPilot, the POI database will update itself. If you followed the other thread I directed you to in my previous post Roberts your fathers brother

I've tried changing the file name from pocket_gps_sc.ov2 to safetycamera.ov to see if it made a difference but I left the pmobile one alone

should I change it back first before deleteing the ao** files Question

Sorry for not reading other thread properly first Embarassed Embarassed

I deleted all files that start with AO in the save file and now when I start CoPilot it says 'files in use, please close other programs using these files and try again'

Also, when I get into CoPilot, the yellow speed camera symbol has gone and in custom POI's it still has custom 1 to 5 but nothing else Question

Could they not be working as when I downloaded the database via the auto servie that asks what system your running, it downloads .ov files and this link here says that I need XLS file.

If this is the reason why, then where do I get XLS fiels from Question

Please help, I know I'm a pain but right now, I feel like lobbing this thing out of a window Evil or Very Mad

copilot 5 uses CSV files
copilot 6 uses OV2

What have you got?
Go to the download page and look at the download instructions for your vertion of copilot

I've downloaded OV2 files. I followed the instructions

downloaded to desktop
extracted
copyed all
pasted into
copilot - save file.
restart copilot and its supposed to take a while while it updates POI's but it went into copilot same speed, no delay and no speed cameras. I've checked my save file and they are sat in there but not doing anything Question

I haven't changed the file names as was unsure to do so or not Question

The man in CoPilot tech support said to delete everything in the save file apart from a PK file Question
That would mean deleting a load of windows files as well Shocked

I had made a back up of the files on my home pc so I have re-installed via a card reader the 2577 folder and also the save folder and she's working again, no more error messages on start up but I've still got no speed cameras in the database.

Someone must know what to do, 285 views......or am I just to put this down to 'it don't like my copoliot, only lost 2 quid and move on and don't bother route' Laughing Rolling Eyes Laughing Rolling Eyes

I sympathise, mate when it doesn't seem anyone is listening, but the trouble is, you have to wait until someone with intimate knowledge of co-pilot comes along.
If it was a question about the database itself or how to get it onto a TomTom, I'd be in like a sot, but know not a thing about co-pilot.

There is a forum section for "Co-Pilot Live", is that what you've got? Maybe a post in there would get a "better class" of viewer?
