One or two stickies are okay, but look at this thread:

http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewforum&f=41

It's way overboard when users have to scroll through multiple screens just to get to the most recent post because there are tens of announcements. When there is that much old junk at the top, it discourages users from participating.

Hmm. Call me a cynical old pensioner, but is it just a coincidence that your link is to a thread where you posted? Confused
What would you suggest? Announcements and stickies be not created? - don't you think they are there AND right at the front, because pgpsw have judged them to be likely to be of value to members? Not bad judgement too, if you look at it to see that they have received literally thousands of views. Perhaps you were one of the more than 2,800 who viewed lbendlin's review on windscreen suction mounts before you chose to go a different route and posted about your mounting ideas?

I'm not saying the announcements have little value, but when there's that many they should be seperated from the discussion threads so the most recent discussions are not buried.

the announcements and stickies sit at the top of the forums so that tyhey are easy to find for new members. i dont see any forums that you would have to scroll through multiple screen to get to new posts. most visitors to the site would use the veiw posts since last visit to check for new threads or posts
