Just been reading through that French review and it looks like they got 4.5 hours out of it.

Ok, not exactly a scientific test but had it on this morning and it's just switched off after 4 hrs and 42mins.

Would something like this work, between the iPod & the TT cable?

It might do assuming all the pins are passed thru the connector, neat. I may have to get one and test Smile

The german, austria and Swiss versions of the TomTom website shows that the 720T will be available soon. Which is the only European site that shows anything about the 720s in the product pages.

Cheers

Quick question. Have they fixed the auto zoom problem, where the unit wants to keep the zoom at about a 120metre scale? On the motorway I'd really like to be able to see more than a few hundred metres around the vehicle... In previous versions if you zoom out, it just zooms straight back in again... If they fix that, it'd be damn near perfect.

No it is the same but I confess it has never been an issue for me.

Apologies, my response was not entirely correct, TomTom have pointed out that you can now Enable/Disable the auto-zooming in Driving View which is a new option.

It's a 'Quick Menu'. You can assign certain functions to it as you wish such as FM Transmitter, Traffic ON/OFF, Address menu etc or you can choose not to use it at all.

One other feature is you can from the unit itself record your own or someone else's voice to use for guidance. Could be neat, could be a gimmick.

Sorry to be dumb, but having seen other icons in this position I'm confused. Does the green arrow mean that you have multiple options selected in you quick menu and it will go a list of them when the press the green arrow, and if you only have one then that items icon apears on the main screen and when you press it you go directly to that function.

I have thought that it would be a good idea to change the direction messages for sometime, as my wife can never remember which way "left" and "right" are, so I have wanted to change them to "your side" and "my side".

Cheers

I think I might add a fanfare to the "You've reached your destination" phrase.

Well took the plunge and pre ordered from Dixons. The guy I spoke with still seems to believe that the 720 will not be in until next Friday the 3rd August.

Not here yet, UPS tend to drop here last about 5 'ish. I'm guessing save for coming in a box and having the European Mapping built-in it'll be very much the same as the 520 I have here Smile

Hi...according to TomTom, RDS-TMC is the upgraded version as per their response to my question asking of the existing RDS-TMC receiver can be used with the TT720

"Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support.
Yes you may, but you'd be better off buying the 720T which comes with a free and upgraded RDS-TMC receiver."
Confused Apologies for cross posting btw!
