We want to use a satnav for European delivery of HGV vehicles that will be left then collected from venues at a later date. One of our options is for our drivers to carry a motorbike and move around between venues by bike or return to the UK at times.
As soon as the driver arrives he has transport to move between hotel and venue or move to another collection site.

As you can enter routes via a pc on the Zumo, we are thinking that this Zumo feature would work well with HGV's as we can route trucks avoiding narrow roads and low bridges, tunnels or weak bridges etc and then transfer to a bike.

Does anyone have experience of setting routes for the Zumo? Vehicles will cover very long distances at times from UK to far off EU destinations so we need to knoiw that we can plan and set routes all the way.
Also does the Zumo run on 12 and 24volt supply.
Any help appreciated. Smile

The Zumo can work on 12 to 24v supply

For full european mapping out-of-the-box you need the Zumo 550 model. (The 500 model covers the UK only - but upgrades are available)

It is possible to plot a route from Zagreb to Edinburgh using the MapSource PC program and the route transfered to the Zumo, or it can be done on the Zumo itself, but is much harder work due to the small screen. Some of the eastern european counties are not that well mapped yet.

The latest Zumo & Mapsource software allows the use of shaping points to be placed in a route. These are used to shape the route over the roads you want to use (very useful for motorcycling where you want to ride specific roads). Previously the only way to do this was using via points, ie points where you actually wanted to stop (and the Zumo would announce that you had arrived).

MapSource is an interesting product to use, but once you get used to the way it operates it's fine
