The latter part of July at the earliest I would guess and more likely Aug.

1st Aug would coordinate nicely with the end of the 20% discount for the existing maps that TomTom are presently showing... Wink

Cheers

My PCWB account page says 'Expected at PCWB 16/07/2007'.

Mine now says expected at PCWB 23-07-07 !!

However I spoke to someone at TT UK yesterday and was told that they don't know the release date yet but he didn't think it would be before 1st August. Anyway I reckon that with the clout PC World have they are going to be amongst the first to get stock.

PCWB is often cheaper than the goods in the PC World stores - and you can go into the local store, go to the office where they adminster the business accounts and confirm the order you made online - and pick up the item immediately (it it is in stock). Sometimes the goods are cheaper in the store though (the pricing policy is crazy but hey who cares as long as you get the best deal !) and I have got into the habit of getting them to check which is the cheapest before I buy

Of course if I was a patient kind of bloke I would wait a while to see what glitches appear on the new device before I buy ....

I see they have yet another new mount - I wonder if this one will cut off the power or fall off the windscreen like the 910 one did (I had 3 replacements before I got the redesigned one) or will TT have built-in some new surprises for us ? Rolling Eyes

Well Dixons have only rolled the date back to Wednesday (25th) now and there was me expecting it to be the 27th! So the good news is the date roll backs seem to be getting smaller now . . .

If that is too hot for you, you could always try one of these which is rather cooler...

regrading release dates, has anyone asked the good people of TOM TOM?

all Dixon's do is keep putting the date back when they realise that the next guess is not going to happen. that's kinda suspect salesmanship IMHO.

any way this is what TOM TOM have to say on the subject...

Dear insert name here,

Thank you for contacting Tom Tom Customer Support.

We do not have an exact release date for our new devices. We expect them to be released at some point over the next few weeks.

With Best Regards

The TomTom Customer Support Team

... so we'll expect them in time for Christmas then:)

happy waiting!

TomTom's reply is complet and utter rubbish, any succesful business will produce plans and have expected release dates. It would be impossible to produce such a product, they have to schedule design, testing, tooling, production and final shipping dates as well as marketing material.

They do have dates, but for some reason TomTom refuse to make these public, this is probably because they find it impossible to meet them! They have managed to miss EVERY release date for every product they have released so far, the x20 will be no different.

The give away sign that the products are ready to be released will be when a new version of Home is available online, as I suspect the current version has no knowledge or support for the new x20 products.

Probably trying to sort out last minute major bugs..
Although don't they usually leave those for customers to find?

Crying or Very sad Dixon's release date has changed again, now showing the 3/8 but if you click on the item, the 25/7 is still showing.

Also Play.com had today as the release date, but is now showing 'Out of stock'
