If you get a helicopter on scene within 30 minutes, you are exceedingly lucky.
You must bear in mind the limited endurance of these units and the fatigue time of the aircrew.
As they can't just 'park up' and wait for a call, they naturally have to standby in their ready-room.
Even in a lifesaving situation, there are necessary checks to be carried out, even before the rotors start turning.

I would have thought a minimum of £3000 per hour.

Was this because you illegally parked your coach...or because you refused to use it to transport a few cons and hundreds of cops back to whence they came Question Laughing

I live near an "Immigration Removal Centre" (a detention centre for people awaiting deportation) and when someone is moved from their it's like a policeman's ball...armed police, traffic cops, unmarked police cars by the handful and a police spotter plane to boot.

Prisoners from Broadmoor don't have such protection when they're moved.

Well, Classy56, I guess that you were reasonably safe from other criminals in the community with that police presence in your neighboorhood.

I've heard a slight variation of your joke about the police being too busy...the sad thing is that if there wasn't an element of truth, it wouldn't be so funny.

One would have thought so 8O

But on Wednesday the local community police officer stopped the wife because she took pictures of what was going on (the wife not the plod), and asked if she could see them, apparently there was a serious assualt about 20 yds from all the police activity and they didn't see a thing Rolling Eyes

That would probably be a over irate jo public having a go at an officer about the crims getting better policing than honest hardworking jo. I can imagin when it's about looking after other officers the police pull out all the stops. Evil or Very Mad
