Hey all,

I have an i3 that is going fine. (something works!)

I am off to France next week and it would be good to be able to download a database that shows the french hot spots for speed cameras...does such a database exist please?
Most importantly, I would like to return the unit to normal on my return.

I have looked about, but can see nothing obvious, hence the post :-)

Thanks. Nick

Click on the big blue speed camera icon, over on the left towards the top, where you will find the European database.

Many thanks for that.

Is it me or does there appear to be only about 80 locations across the whole of France?

Considering we have 12,000 I am confused.

Thank you again.

Nick

I don't use the cameras in France but if you have a look at the viaMichelin site you should be able to see how many there are and compare.

But don't forget the Gendarmerie have speed traps anywhere and anytime they get bored, so don't rely too much on camera warnings.

The French actually site them to STOP speeding, not as a cash machine. :P

SCBD.info has 989 speed cameras listed for France - you have to pay an annual subscription of €10 to get the database. No good for GB as they only list 4,865.

Ok many thanks.

Sounds as though there are so few that it's barely worth fretting about.

Thank you all for your responses.

Also take into account that France is more than twice the area of GB and it puts it more into perspective.

My trusty good French friend assures me that a few kpm over the limit is usually tolerated, except when on Autoroutes and it's raining/roads are wet, where they are strict on the 110kph limit. The others to watch for are the 45, usually passing schools, and some newer 30, the only 30 I've seen is in my friends road, a narrow cul-de-sac. But they are strict on these three. One other thing is their STOP signs at junctions, make sure your wheels actually stop, even if you can see the road is clear.
