For reasons i wont go into now ( Evil or Very Mad ) MY i3 has been wird directly to a 12v source, which has killed it (the smell alone is proof)

I'm wondering is it possible to fix? (presumably theres a particular part that will get it first) or have i got a very expensive paper weight now?

I expect the cost of repair, if badly damaged inside, will come close to or more than the cost of a new one.

e.g. My mate with a Mio 168 damaged the connector, Mio quoted £124 + 17.5% VAT plus postage. For a few extra pounds he could get a new Mio P350.

I doubt very much you will be able to fix this, if you have put 12V into the i3 where it expects only 5V then nasty smell = burnt out electronics, open it up to take a look but I doubt you will repair it.
The supplied charger lead drops the voltage down to 5V so that is all the i3 is designed to accept, anymore and it will fry - how the heck did you do this? - Mike
