I saw the video on sky news about that poor lad who got his foot stuck in a drain and couldnt be rescued. His dad blamed the rescue services but it must have been awful for them to be holding his head above water and then watching him drown.

I dont know what more they could have done, although cutting his leg off was an option, how quickly do they think about things like that when your in that situation.

The press seems to think that it wasn't a drain grate but a piece of fencing put in to cover a hole in the drain - where the grate was missing.

If this is true, the Council will have a lot to explain away, as to why?

They most certainly will have a lot of explaining to do, they are always doing things to cut corners and save money, but when it comes to endangering lives they have got to get them selves sorted out. No amount of compensation will make up for the loss of that lad and and Im sure his parents will like to see something is being done to make sure it never happens again.

Update on Doncaster.

Bentley A19 clear.

Toll Bar, still pumping a week later (1.2 million litres/hour). A19 still closed. Estimated could be open in next couple of days.
