I have the Tomtom Bluetooth and HP2210 kit. It seems to me that it should be possible to make a "performance meter" capable of doing 0-60, 0-100 and 1/4 mile times from this. I realize the receiver only gets position updates once a second, but I believe that Evo magazine use some sort of GPS-based performance meter.
Seems a bit silly with all this technology to shell out another couple of hundred notes for an AP-22 (which is an inertial meter). OTOH, maybe I could add inertial aiding to the GPS ;) |

don't waste your time trying to abuse GPS for what it's not designed. Go with your inertial stuff. _________________ Lutz

VBOx use GPS for such measurements but they utilise receivers with much higher sensitivity to obtain the readings (and at a high cost!), see http://www.racelogic.co.uk/2003/vbox/ .
A consumer grade GPS Receiver cannot do this and so any measurements obtained would be wildly innacurate and of little use. _________________ Darren Griffin - Editor |

Hey, the VBOX box says DGPS on it, so I guess it's differential... |
